D-day! a mod that needs no introduction... but just in case:

D-day is a Would War II TC mod for the highly popular game Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge, is the largest & longest running mod for RA2 to date. With hundreds of highly detailed & accurate units from pre World War 2 to a hypothetical post war. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to fight the good fight on land, sea & air. There are eight playable countries in D-day, as well as several other non-playable ones.

The playable sides are:

  • America
  • Great Britain
  • France
  • Soviet Union
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Hungary
  • Japan

The pride of D-day is the DTX terrain, which completely changes RA2’s cartoony look into a gritty WW2 landscape that has been heavily researched to create an authentic atmosphere. D-day also features maps of such places as Berlin, Stalingrad, Kursk, El Almain & even New York! Created using battlefield maps & period photos to get the highest accuracy possible.

Note the MCV which was made by converting the vxl to a 3D model with VXLSE, a very useful but underused feature of the program.

I'm a bit disappointed with this production anim, I originally planed to make the crane pick up the create & turn 270o & place it where the chimneys are, however I realised to late that it wouldn't be possible with this design because of the way the game handles production anims, so I had to simplify it.

Yes the whole building rotates. Luckily in real life it was stationary most of the time scanning specific areas, otherwise I'd imagine the operators would get nauseous quickly!

Lastly here are the damaged versions of the buildings.

Also, why Sweden? They weren't even in the war. In their place you can choose another country that was involved, like Finland.

Finland didn't produce enough equipment to make it a playable side, some of their units will be available via bonus crates tho.

Sweden however built up an impressive array of weapons during WW2. Many of which were on par or even surpassed that of other European nations. They also sold some of them to other countries, Finland being one of their main clients.

Any more countries planned? Republic of China? Poland? Finland?

I was also thinking that, as you finish the French, add a subfaction feature like what you did for the U.S., where you can choose to be the Vichy regime.

China, Poland & Sweden are planned for future releases but it will be some time before they are ready.

Vichy French is interesting but they used the same equipment as the Free French forces so the only difference would be their name & logo.

Really? Thought Vichy used more of a mix of that and German equipment.

The Germans confiscated most of the French equipment for themselves after the armistice & blocked several efforts by the Vichy government to produce more. Only the French forces in North Africa were left largely intact. When the Americans landed in Morocco they fought back for a few days but then soon sided with them & joined the Free French.

When you play as the US it will only let me make Engineers and the buildings all look glitchy and pixelated.

You haven't installed/launched Ares properly (glitchy buildings). You also have files from another mod in your RA2 folder that are interfering with D-day (only Engineers).

D-Day "See You On The Beach" ****: An Invasion Ten Years In The Waiting D-Day is a project that has been in the works longer than some players have been playing Yuri's Revenge. Since the time that D-Day began to take shape back in 2002, The West has completed it's "War on terror", an African American was elected as POTUS, the Arab World rose up in revolt and Social media sites took over our lives. Indeed the D-Day mod has been in the works for a long time, but finally through the hard-work of it's…
