This is the first news post since the release of the firs episode, which was about half a year ago,so it's about time to show you what I'm working on currently. But first I'd like to thank you ALL who downloaded the mod and posted comment's on it here, and also I'd like to thank to the ModDB staff for the great support the Curse mod had received. The last time when I checked the first episode's download count -on all the mirror sites I found with google - it was 22.000+(12000+ on ModDB), which is more than enough for me, to keep my level of enthusiasm for developing and releasing 2 more episodes.

Now, about the next episode:
The picture shows the 3d skybox model I going to use for the levels.(without the blood-stained text, of course:))
It is too early to go into any details, but as you can see,the next episode looks quite different than the first.
What is sure right now is that the combat will be different, because to improve the first episode's melee system I'd probably need the full source code (not just the dll code which comes with SDK) - which is not possible to get.
Anyway, the fact that the target-locking melee system is only in the first episode, is kind of fits the story.
Yes,( :) )there's is a story, and the reason you couldnt find a clue about what's going on is because :
1.: I couldnt find any cool way to tell the story.
2.: this is also fits the story(the fact that you had know idea what's going on)

So in 12 eyes there will be some kind of storytelling for sure, and there will be hints if you get stuck or somethin'.
Also this time I'll promise I'll be more cautious about announcing release dates:)
Here's the first screenshot. (there is a slightly bigger version in the images section)

The time to develop the second episode will be approx.a year(or probably a bit more) for sure,
because in the meantime I must do some work on another project...
a 2.5D action adventure game (currently I call the project : ANI) which will takes place in the CURSE universe.
Yaaay!
This is an announcement, actually: right now, as an indie developer,I working on a commercial Curse title, using the Unity3d engine, so expect a news post about it next year.
Now with that being said,
I wish everyone A Happy New Year!

Are there any HL2 mods for Mac. I'm sad to say that I own a Macbook and not a PC, neither laptop nor desktop, not even netbook.
Part 2 of 2: (Read part 1 first)
RE: Are there any HL2 mods for Mac?
Why are alot of mods screwed up? The mods are looking for various files in certain places, the re-written engine is too stupid to look at the gameinfo.txt file and load the correct files...
(Add insult to injury you can't un-install the "May-2010 update". You have to manually go thru each mod and get it working again.)
The engine is too stupid to open files correctly from the previous software revision. Imagine if ALL the documents, pics, movies, etc on your machine became inaccessible, unusable after a OS update, and there was NO way to roll-back the OS to the previous version. This is what the update did to alot of mods.
****
Now to address YOUR question:
The point of the Mac Friendly engine update was to sell source games to Mac owners, the engine should behave (in regards to mods) the same way as it does on a PC. You should be able to play any mod as mods are just files that have been copied to the mods file folder. The mods interact with the Source engine, not your OS. (AFAIK) If that is not the case head over Steampowered forums (link above)
To install a mod: (This is for a PC, your file structure may be different, you may need to research how to run a Win32 exe on a Mac. Extract the files, manually copy to the mods folder)
Close STEAM.
Extract the files of the mod (may be a exe, a rar) to:
Steam>Steamapps>Sourcemods\(Create directory here=Name of mod here)
Example: C:Games\Steam\Steamapps\Sourcemods\MINERVA
Once files have been copied start STEAM and the mod should appear in your games listing.

RE: Are there any HL2 mods for Mac?
First a little background before I address your question- below is some info for people that are having problems getting xyz mod to run:
May-2010 Valve to get Macintosh market share (EG: Sell Source powered games to a very small Mac game market) forced upon PC users a (unwelcome) "update" to the source engine.
I call it the:
May-2010 Macintosh Enabled, PC unfriendly, screw your existing customer base Source 2009 engine update.
This "update", (a downgrade of the engine according to the Creator of MINERVA: Metastasis which btw is a EXCELLENT MOD-So good the creator is now working for Valve) has pretty much SCREWED UP all popular mods... Mods not loading, crashing, locking up, scenes not working, actors/ scripts not working, various graphical issues, etc.
(There is a working (unofficial) patch out for MINERVA: Metastasis that address the problems caused by the May-2010 engine cough, cough "update".)
If you want a OFFICIAL PATCH, by the creator of MINERVA: Metastasis follow my posts here to his board and make some posts on his board.

Info on MINERVA: Metastasis, unofficial patch, AND info on getting OTHER mods that were affected by the May-2010 engine update here:

Got to above link to see if there is a workaround to getting your XYZ mod working again.
What happened with this mod? I haven't seen any updates :(
the day of dooooom is coming... the release of the ep2 teaser is coming also
EPIC WIN
I just played through it. It looks gorgeous. Although the weak enemies are just re-skins with new sounds, it was fun. I think there should be a greater reward for exploration, not just opening gates. Music is tense, and its overall a decent mod.
Although I would of preferred something very unique game-play wise, I would give this a 9.
Combat was a little iffy and most of the puzzles lacked any real puzzle, but a few nice touches and some great visual design, effects and animations. Nice mod overall, looking forward to the next episode now.
I would just like to say that this game is visually amazing. When I saw those gigantic snakes spiral above the air, into a pathway, my jaw simply dropped. So many other times as well. Patiently awaiting your next episode.
DUDE, you can write a review for this mod you know? You just need to hit the review tab on your profile.
