Curse Episodes is a Half-Life 2 single player total conversion : a mix of physics based combat, puzzles and exploration. In the first episode you can explore an egyptian necropolis and kill mummies, monsters with a morning star.

This is the first news post since the release of the firs episode, which was about half a year ago,so it's about time to show you what I'm working on currently. But first I'd like to thank you ALL who downloaded the mod and posted comment's on it here, and also I'd like to thank to the ModDB staff for the great support the Curse mod had received. The last time when I checked the first episode's download count -on all the mirror sites I found with google - it was 22.000+(12000+ on ModDB), which is more than enough for me, to keep my level of enthusiasm for developing and releasing 2 more episodes.

Now, about the next episode:
The picture shows the 3d skybox model I going to use for the levels.(without the blood-stained text, of course:))
It is too early to go into any details, but as you can see,the next episode looks quite different than the first.
What is sure right now is that the combat will be different, because to improve the first episode's melee system I'd probably need the full source code (not just the dll code which comes with SDK) - which is not possible to get.
Anyway, the fact that the target-locking melee system is only in the first episode, is kind of fits the story.
Yes,( :) )there's is a story, and the reason you couldnt find a clue about what's going on is because :
1.: I couldnt find any cool way to tell the story.
2.: this is also fits the story(the fact that you had know idea what's going on)

So in 12 eyes there will be some kind of storytelling for sure, and there will be hints if you get stuck or somethin'.
Also this time I'll promise I'll be more cautious about announcing release dates:)
Here's the first screenshot. (there is a slightly bigger version in the images section)

The time to develop the second episode will be approx.a year(or probably a bit more) for sure,
because in the meantime I must do some work on another project...
a 2.5D action adventure game (currently I call the project : ANI) which will takes place in the CURSE universe.
This is an announcement, actually: right now, as an indie developer,I working on a commercial Curse title, using the Unity3d engine, so expect a news post about it next year.
Now with that being said,
I wish everyone A Happy New Year!

Never would have expected the second episode to take place in a city. Looking pretty awesome!

Sounds awesome!

However, will 12eyes be on the source engine as well, or will that be the Unity engine game?

I want to release 2 episodes (both will be a hl2 mod, no idea about the relase dates, but unless I am being eaten by a mummy both WILL happen for SURE) and I want to develop (and release) one commercial Curse related game this year using the unity3d engine(this project is a higher priority one than the mod, so I'll probably release it before the next episode : 12 eyes);

I wonder if the dev will be subject to insults by the same impatient, ungrateful people over this episode like last time? Hmm...
