This mod is for all the players frustrated with the cartoony nature of Zero Hour units and buildings. We intend to replace every fanciful unit in Zero Hour with its closest possible real world equivalent, without changing the unit's capabilities.

Your Paladin tank replacement needs a laser against missiles. Very nice Leopard 2 model though I am undecided if I like it in the role of the Paladin.

How will that work out changing USA into Nato with so few units available to change out?

A funky idea, use smoke charges instead of laser to disable missiles... anyway you guys will find something I am sure of that :)

I know what you mean but do you have any better idea what would suit the Paladin role? Mhhh...I don't.

Also I think that automatic gun turret there will act as a laser defense. Propably the only way. Doctorheredoctor can explain it better.

replace the laser with something like Shtora-1 in T-90?

No. This is a Visual Reality modification. Shtora-1 is strictly Russian based technology and wouldn't make any sense on a Leopard 2A7+.

I always thought that the vanilla Paladin is a more advanced version of the M1 Abrams (it even looks like Abrams), and the Crusader is something based on old versions of Leopard . So it would be logical to replace old Crusader with Leopard 2A7 and the Palladin with M1A2 TUSK.

Abrams is already dated and somewhat obsolete. It requires close co-operation between branches to be effective and in the absence of non-export models it shines. However if it was to encounter a non-monkey/export model such as the T-80U/T-90A or other modernized T series it would be less effective and vulnerable.

Small grammatical issue:

"Abrams is already dated and somewhat obsolete. It requires close co-operation between branches to be effective and in the absence of domestic(not-for-export) models it shines against export/monkey models such as that of the T-72M/M1 primarily due to tactics and co-operation between branches of the military and also due to other factors if the case of both Persian Gulf Wars is used. However if it was to encounter a non-monkey/export model such as the T-80U/T-90A or other modernized T series it would be less effective and vulnerable. You can look at the various tests and penetration data conducted with the M829 ammunition post-Soviet Union on former Warsaw Pact equipment/tanks.

Jane's International Defence Review 7/1997, pg. 15:

"IMPENETRABLE RUSSIAN TANK ARMOUR STANDS UP TO EXAMINATION

"Claims that the armour of Russian tanks is effectively impenetrable, made on the basis of test carried out in Germany (see IDR 7/1996, p.15), have been supported by comments made following tests in the US.

"Speaking at a conference on Future Armoured Warfare in London in May, IDR's Pentagon correspondent Leland Ness explained that US tests involved firing trials of Russian-built T-72 tanks fitted with Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armour (ERA). In contrast to the original, or 'light', type of ERA which is effective only against shaped charge jets, the 'heavy' Kontakt-5 ERA is also effective against the long-rod penetrators of APFSDS tank gun projectiles.

"When fitted to T-72 tanks, the 'heavy' ERA made them immune to the DU penetrators of M829 APFSDS, fired by the 120 mm guns of the US M1 Abrams tanks, which are among the most formidable of current tank gun projectiles.

Yeah, you are right that the myth of the 'godlike' Abrams and the 'useless' Soviet made T-72 is crap bc the Iraqis only used the downgraded export modell and an old APFSDS round.
But nevertheless your post is outdated. As Kontakt-5 was inpenetrable by the M829 APFSDS in 1996, the US immediately developed the M829A2 as a response to those tests. It's main purpose was to defeat tanks with Kontakt-5 ERA. Not to mention that the US now uses the even more advanced and destructive M829A3.
Same with the DM53/63 APFSDS round the Germans (and all the other Leopard 2 user) use now..
And not to mention that K-5 ERA only protects a very very small area of the tank..

no it wouldnt because the m1a2 abrams has engaged t-90 heavy armor during international war games and the abrams always came out on top the key is not the vehicle itself but the crew and american crews are 10x better trained in armored conflict than any other nation to date. now is the abrams getting old yes it is, is it still effective hell yes.

He's actually correct in stating that the Crusader is "based off" of the Leopard 1. It's even called AVLeopard in the game files. Either way, the role of MBT for U.S.A. must clearly be occupied by Abrams M1A2.

actually there is something like this but isn't a turret but still fires projectiles. I saw it in CODMW2 on their amphibious vehicle things. It fires spread bullets like a shotgun and it would fire whenever it detects a missile in close proximity. Don't know how you can implement it on the vehicle though. :\

Why not replace the crusader with M60s, they aren't gone yet(in reserve).
And if it's really NATO, the M60 would fit in even better.
the Abrams would suit the Paladin role well, even better with TUSK 2 upgrades.

The Paladin is probably the only unit that has to be non-US. All other unit roles can be filled satisfactorily.

De-Facto Military alliance with NATO. Israel and NATO and the US exist in a De-Facto military alliance status since 2005. If you also closely look at the integration of Israeli and NATO air-defense that also gives another insight as to their close integration and co-operation.

I wouldn't suggest or recommend using the Merkava IV with the Trophy APS as the Paladin tank.

A more appropriate replacement is the 2A7+ or a Leopard 2 140mm or a Leclerc AMX-56 140mm.

Very nice texture and model. It does fit well as a Paladin tank replacement although a Leclerc AMX-56 with a 140mm would also be a good candidate.

For the weathering/dirt effect Keksz do you have any tips or tricks how do you achieve it. Is it through a texture or a low size saturation brush ?

Thanks! The weathering effect is mostly just a sprinkle brush used in combination with a wacom tablet for good control over it.
Then I repeat the effect with various colors and diffrent layer styles and thats basically it :D

I have a "wacom bamboo pen". It's the most basic tablet you can get. It#s maybe not big and good enough for digital paintings but it is good enough for textures and photo corrections/editing.
