After searching out new systems in Sirius, a lone pilot finds a strange anomaly, unlike any he has seen before. On further examination the anomoly seemed to be giving out very faint radio signals. Moving closer the pilot could almost make them out but, before he can do much else, his ship is sucked into the gravity well of this strange phenomenon and is hurled light years into the distance and ends up on the outskirts of the Sol system. Unable to return to Sirius, this trader makes a new life for himself in the relative safety of the mother system that spawned the human race. His name was Brandon Trent, missing father of our hero Edison Trent in Freelancer...
Recent thought processes have led me to a change in direction, partly due to the fact i'm working on my own plus, if i carry on as i've been doing, it will never get finished. To this end while the basic storyline remains the same, there have been some huge changes on the ship content department. I've removed a load of ships and gone down the ELITE route (think David Braben & Ian Bell) and added in all the ships from ELITE. These will comprise the bulk of the ships in the game. That said the Pachyderm freighters will also be present in large numbers
A little while ago i released an ELITE ship pack mod for Freelancer and because the ships and textures were of such a high quality, made by a chap called Griff for Oolite who kindly let me convert them, it seemed only natural that these would somehow find their way into the mod. There are loads of repaints, especially for the pirate factions in the game, each one getting it's own paintjob and logo, that by the time these are added in, not much room for a lot of the other ships i had planned.
Currently working on sticking all these ships in and assigning them to the relevant factions in game. Before anyone says anything, this isn't supposed to be an ELITE remake for Freeancer, too many differences in the two games for that so don't expect proper physics or sun skimming or any of that sort of thing. Instead you will be able to fly the ELITE ships that have entered the Freelancer universe according to how i see things. Bear in mind i'm only using the Freelancer game engine here, so there is no original Freelancer content in the mod, as in systems or ships.
So far it's going well with nearly all the systems finished, most of the ships in, all the commodities are in, a lot of the weapons are in etc etc.
