Lead designer, writer and grand bureaucrat of SuckerFree Games. SuckerFree Games was forged in the grand soviet republic known as Apartment C201 located in the heart of Olympia Washington. While this micronation may be small, consisting of a mere 600 square feet, we make up for it with our hard work and dedication to making fine indie games in the name of our glorious nation Apartment C201. Focusing on the era of gaming in which the proud Union of Soviet Socialist Republics remained solidified, we make magnificent retro games following the "Singular Vision" set forth by our benevolent leader. Our future plans involve the annexation of our neighboring nation state Apartment C202, more than doubling the size of our current empire!

Obscurity

Mod review may contain spoilers

How this thing has a 9 is kind of beyond me. The story is ok, there are a lot of recycled assets, in some cases they don't really fit right. There were a few good jump scares and the writing was pretty decent, until I got to the ending. That ending was terrible and illogical.
SPOILERS:
Seriously? Go back and reopen the mine and become the new cult leader? Seriously? I get you were going for the whole clichéd circular thing, but that has about as much originality of a sci fi channel original movie. I'd go back with a hunting party, shoot what I find, set the place ablaze and collapse the blasted thing. What he did doesn't make sense, he lacks the motivation to make such a predictably bad decision.

Slender's Woods

Game review

Wow... Well this game is interesting. I beat it. It took a few hours, mainly got hung up trying to get back to the Mill after getting the key from the cave. That was unnecessarily frustrating. Literally went from an 8.5 - 9 down to a 7, would even go as low as a 6. Around the eighth attempt all the fun was sucked out of the game and then the ending... This game had a lot of potential and I could see it really being turned into something awesome, just some basic interactivity would improve the game. Perhaps if it wasn't built on the Build3D engine and produced as a mod for Amnesia the immersion might work a bit better, with carry able items, and being able to move almost anything, but whatever. The older graphics did not bother me, just the frustration factor.

stay dead

Game review

I found the gameplay to be fun and enjoyable. A rhythm game that really tests your dexterity with the keyboard. That said, I was surprised by the complete lack of story, I mean it's an FMV game, a dead genre that I actually miss a lot, but there isn't a reason given as to why I'm beating up the Nazi, the hobo, etc. Even Samurai Showdown had 3 lines of engrish dialogue giving motivation before a fight.

The only other thing that I found disappointing was the bizarre censorship on the swastika and his hat emblem. It was pretty distracting, I'd either add a way to un-censor it in the options menu or, knowing it has to have an international audience (IE France, etc) have filmed it using the Bionic Commando symbol for the Nazi's the iron eagle.

In the end I give it a 9/10 because the game play is good, cinematography is well done and it feels good to support an often neglected genre of gaming.

Bird Assassin

Game review

I bought this game when it was new on the Xbox 360's Indie Marketplace. It's surprisingly fun, funny and actually pretty innovative. The basic concept is to walk to the right, shoot everything that moves, but there is a Gatling gun mini-game, weapon upgrades and a variety of enemies and obstacles. Seriously for $2 there is little to complain about, it looks good, it plays good and it's funny. What more do you want?

Dino D-Day

Game review

Dino D-Day game that is fun to play in short bursts. It has such potential that I bought it day 1 of release. I've been waiting for the Single Player campaign that was promised for over a year now. They've done some amazing improvements, no doubt about it, adding the T-Rex, the allies dinos (which fixed the "everyone plays axis" problem) and honestly it is a good game. It's just not great. I will definitely give it a 9 when they release a story mode, because I'm certain it will be an amazing adventure.
