Anno 2070

Anno 2070 is a great addition to the Anno collection, taking resource gathering, diplomacy, and exploration and settling into the future!

In terms of graphics, based upon putting them to the max, the game appears beautiful and scenic and shows the ecological changes in the graphics for each island perfectly.

The game shows water, particles, explosions, and more with stunning perfection. It's only drawback seems to be the movement of civillians, which appear to lack enough frames in their animation when you are zoomed out.

Graphics get 9.5/10

The game's audio is also very good, it removes some constant audio from trade that ANNO 1404 experienced and keeps the same old "detailed characters" through what they say.

Unfortunately the variety of music was limited to what I believe was only a few pieces, meaning the 3 or 4 hour long games would consist of hearing the same battle track 40 or 50 times and the same calm music on islands with good ecological states.

Sound gets 8.5/10

The gameplay is very good, consisting of original city-building and having goals from your own people and allies and even enemies. Having an AI for custom games that was your rival adds an extra level to roleplaying within the game without turning it into a role-playing game.

Combat is also taken to a new level in the Anno series by bringing aircraft and submarines along with good old boats. However, it is let down by the expensive late-game missiles that tycoons can produce which cost rediculous amounts of resources for it's mediocre power. Another main letdown is the sudden absence of any land units. Surely 2070 would not have made Land armies obsolete? In this case, Anno 2070 begs to differ.

Overall Gameplay gets 8.5/10

Overall Anno 2070 is a creative extension to the Anno series and has few faults overall, allowing the game to be played for hours and hours on end.

I give Anno 2070 a 9/10
