People usually navmesh the new maps and put out a SP patch after the release. No idea exactly how long it will take but I would expect it to take a while.
Extract the mod folder to your BF2/mods directory with 7-zip or some other utility. Make sure it's the actual mod folder (it should have subfolders like "levels" for example.) After installation, you can activate the mod by starting BF2, going to the Community tab, and clicking on Custom Games. It should be in the list of mods you can activate. Simply activate the mod and you can play! If you want to have more than 16 bots in your games, go into the BF2/mods/alphaproject (or whatever the mod folder is called)/ai directory and edit aidefault.ai. It should have instructions for how to change the bot numbers.
Given the single line that the guy used to describe his problem and the fact that I don't use AMD cards, it was the best answer I could give. If you ask random-*** people on the internet for tech support you should take their answers with a grain of salt anyway. I am also sorry to say that I'm not quite flexible enough to **** myself. Sorry about that.
It would be quite nice to see this mod continue even after the shutdown. I mostly played on LAN mode anyway. Of course I can also see why you guys might not want to continue modding for a game with such a troubled future. Even so, I'm looking forward to the next release, and hoping it won't be the last!
They've already got a huge amount of the war covered. Poland would require a massive amout of work to add in (they'd have to make an entirely new faction with vehicles, and make maps for it as well.) Tobruk is covered, they modified the original map. You can find Tobruk along with the other original maps such as the Battle of Britain at the bottom of the map list. Narvik is also covered, it's like the 5th map on the list. (One way to find certain battles- the numbers before each map correspond to the date of the battle. 0639 would mean the battle was fought in June 1939.)
Probably what the error means is that your actual BF1942 version is wrong. I don't think it's talking about your mod. Patch your game to the latest version and try running the mod again, that should work.
I'm not sure exactly what conditions need to be met to spawn aircraft from the FOB, but the game looks at your FPS for one thing. If you're getting messages saying 'Aircraft spawn fail" you should lower your graphics settings to get more FPS. If it's too low, aircraft will not spawn. It also seems to take some time for aircraft to spawn, so don't expect to place an FOB and have jets flying everywhere immediately.
Hey guys, seeing what's happening to Massgate, I was wondering if you will continue development of the Modern Warfare Mod. I hope you do, because this is probably the most technically impressive mod I've seen for any game and I absolutely adore the work you guys have done so far. I sincerely hope that this mod is able to live on after the death of the original game. Even if it doesn't however, this mod (and WIC) will always have a place on hard drive as the most visceral and realistic depiction of modern warfare I've seen outside of ArmA. Great work!
I never use the D:/ drive, so I have no idea how to get it working there.
They do already have the T90 and T80, and as Vladapo said the Leopard was put in with the last update. Given that NATO already has the Abrams and the Leopard I would not hold my breath for a Challenger, no matter how cool that would be.
Forgive me if you've already tried this, but it sounds like you haven't edited your aidefault.ai file to add more bots. If you go into that (it should be in your bf2/mods/ap directory) it has instructions for changing the number of bots in singleplayer. This also allows the game to autobalance the bots and lets you have more than 32 bots in a game (so you can do 64 player battles and actually have teammates!)
First off, I just want to congratulate you guys. You've all had a long history with BF2 modding and it's a pleasure to get to play Alpha Project again! This release is great, the customization and weapon-swapping system has worked perfectly for me so far, and I'm very impressed by it- I haven't seen anything like this before in BF2!
I do want to point out an issue I'm having. When attempting to play Coastal City, I am able to load fine, but when I spawn in I instantly CTD with a "Battlefield 2 has stopped working" message.
I have never seen anything like that. I guess try reinstalling, if you haven't already. Sounds like maybe a texture or model might be corrupt?
There are easily a hundred at least, probably many more- and that is my estimate from an earlier version. Given that they're still adding maps, you probably won't run out of SP maps for a while.
Check your game to see if it is already version 1.5. Maybe that's the issue.
If you go into the mod folder's directory and go to the folder marked "AI," you should see several files. Open "AIDefault.AI" with Notepad or Wordpad and the instructions for how to change the bots are in there.
That's weird because it doesn't seem to crash with the normal game, just with the mod loaded up. I'll try a clean install of both Modern Warfare and WIC to see if that works.
it hasn't been all that long since they started the mod. Patience! ;)
It would be an Omaha Beach style map, but with the Chinese. In Gulf of Oman you fight the MEC.
I took compatibility mode off and the game stopped crashing after matches ended, but it still crashes if I linger in the menu for too long.
For some reason, the is extremely unstable on my computer. It will crash upon startup, and then run fine until I end a match, at which point it crashes again. It also sometimes crashes in the middle of a match. I'm running Windows 7, with WIC in compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 3. Could this be the problem?
Yes it does. As far as I know, every mod for WIC here works without Steam.
Go to audio options and turn the music volume all the way down.
The mod is not yet finished, as it says right below below the title.
Try launching it from BF2. Start up the game, and go to "Community." Then, go to "Custom Games," and the mod (and any others you install) should be listed. Then, just click on the mod and activate it!
Did you use the .zip or the .exe? If you used the .exe, you shouldn't have to do anything. if you used the .zip, copy and paste the mod folder into the Mods folder in your Battlefield Vietnam directory.
Oh. I thought that it was separate from the original campaign. Thanks for the help!
When I started the campaign, the only things that were different were the looks of everybody and the map. I got the same mission starting out as I did when I started Freelancer, and the opening cutscenes were the same. Is this supposed to happen?
Thank you, Freelancer now works perfectly! I'll keep an unaltered backup around to keep this problem from happening again.
Alright, now I have a NEW problem. I realized that I had accidentally checked 'open singleplayer" in the FLMM setup, so I deactivated the mod. FLMM had some trouble doing so, and had me restore backups. Now, I can't get the mod to activate again. FLMM just stops in the middle and spouts an error message in the log: "Error: SHCopyFile failed ([freelancer directory]/EXE/Resources.dll.flmmbak to ([freelancer directory]/EXE/resources.dll." Can anyone help me out? Thanks!
