Started mapping back in the Doom days with DEU, couldn't keep up with the technology (aka the price of new computers) and eventually gave up. Tried again with Half-Life when that came out; same result. Third time's the charm! :p

I couldn't seem to find how to modify the controls of the game. It's stuck in non-inverted mouse, and I can't rebind keys...

I've only played maybe 2 hours into this game, and it is by far the most well-developed and immersive game world I've ever seen! Every new area you visit, from as soon as you step out of the vault, to the first time you enter a city, the visuals are so stunning you just have to stand there and take it all in for a moment.

Gah! After finishing the basic structure of this map, I forgot to backup my Valve Hammer files during a format and lost the whole damn thing! Ah well, once I get my motivation back, I guess I'll just try it again. Who knows, maybe I'll do it better this time!

Great level design. All the encounter areas were different. The only problem I had was when it dropped me to a BSoD. Not sure if the mod was at fault, or if it was just my system. Either way, great mod!

I think, legally speaking, you could only really get away with redoing the first (shareware) episode. It's been done for the Doom 3 engine, and looks great, but I have yet to see it done for Source.

Thanks! I've got most of the map done, but I've hit a wall. I want to make the tunnel areas feel more like tunnels (as opposed to perfectly square corridors), but every time I try it never turns out the way I want it to. Ah well, guess I need more practice. ;)

This is the game that made me quit playing video games for a month! I had a day off, and sat down to play as soon as I got up (around 3pm - I worked the night shift), and I didn't move from that couch until my roommate woke up the next morning at 5:30! Over 14 hours straight, and I didn't even notice...

Yeah, I'm still working on the lighting, I just went with minimal light during the building process, but now that I've got the whole thing more or less done I can work on some better lighting. I'm tempted to get Garry's Mod because they've got a Doom 2 texture package. I'll post up a different room once I get closer to a finished product.

One good thing about console modding would be no version differences to worry about.

Interesting technique. I guess the broken glass would look different each time you loaded the level, but wouldn't it be easier to just create a jagged edged piece of glass in the window frame and make it breakable (maybe drop a couple extras on the ground around there as well)?
