Started mapping back in the Doom days with DEU, couldn't keep up with the technology (aka the price of new computers) and eventually gave up.
Tried again with Half-Life when that came out; same result.
Third time's the charm! :p
I couldn't seem to find how to modify the controls of the game. It's stuck in non-inverted mouse, and I can't rebind keys...
How is this mod not in the MotY Top 100?!
I've only played maybe 2 hours into this game, and it is by far the most well-developed and immersive game world I've ever seen! Every new area you visit, from as soon as you step out of the vault, to the first time you enter a city, the visuals are so stunning you just have to stand there and take it all in for a moment.
Gah! After finishing the basic structure of this map, I forgot to backup my Valve Hammer files during a format and lost the whole damn thing! Ah well, once I get my motivation back, I guess I'll just try it again. Who knows, maybe I'll do it better this time!
Every time I try to play, I get this error message:
Failed to start Minecraft
org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Pixel format not accelerated
I miss my C64 almost as much as I miss DOS...
I have one complaint about this mod: IT ENDS! :(
Wow, I can't believe how well-made this mod is! Great puzzles the whole way through, the level design makes sure things stay interesting... Great mod!
Great level design. All the encounter areas were different. The only problem I had was when it dropped me to a BSoD. Not sure if the mod was at fault, or if it was just my system. Either way, great mod!
I'm not exaggerating when I say that this totally rivals F.E.A.R. for horror factor! Great job!
I think, legally speaking, you could only really get away with redoing the first (shareware) episode. It's been done for the Doom 3 engine, and looks great, but I have yet to see it done for Source.
Thanks! I've got most of the map done, but I've hit a wall. I want to make the tunnel areas feel more like tunnels (as opposed to perfectly square corridors), but every time I try it never turns out the way I want it to. Ah well, guess I need more practice. ;)
Perfect. Can't think of any other word to describe this...
What are the system requirements for this?
Easily the best AD&D-based game out there. Even today it still remains playable!
Best voice acting EVAR! :p
Man, this game scared the crap out of me when I first played it!
This game was incredible, it was everything an AvP game should have been!
This is the game that made me quit playing video games for a month! I had a day off, and sat down to play as soon as I got up (around 3pm - I worked the night shift), and I didn't move from that couch until my roommate woke up the next morning at 5:30! Over 14 hours straight, and I didn't even notice...
Drunk Missiles + mushroom mode = hilarious!
Gotta say, I enjoyed it, but it was nowhere near as groundbreaking as the original. Hell, I think the original scared me more at the time!
I still have the little cardboard sleeve my original Doom shareware floppies came in!
Man, this is a total nostalgia trip! Classic! Almost as good as They Hunger!
Easily the best HL mod I've ever played!
Yeah, I'm still working on the lighting, I just went with minimal light during the building process, but now that I've got the whole thing more or less done I can work on some better lighting. I'm tempted to get Garry's Mod because they've got a Doom 2 texture package. I'll post up a different room once I get closer to a finished product.
This shot alone makes me want to play! Excellent mapping!
That's exactly what I thought of when I first saw this image! Well done!
Please tell me you're gonna make a single-player game with this! Bring back the fun of games like Contra, Mega Man, Abuse & Metal Slug with HL2!
One good thing about console modding would be no version differences to worry about.
Interesting technique. I guess the broken glass would look different each time you loaded the level, but wouldn't it be easier to just create a jagged edged piece of glass in the window frame and make it breakable (maybe drop a couple extras on the ground around there as well)?
