Ever heard of Operation: Downfall? It was the planned alternative to nuclear strike - an all-out joint invasion of Japan by the United States and the Soviet Union. The total destruction from Operation: Downfall would have caused many more deaths (American, Russia, and Japanese) than the two nuclear strikes. Based on what we knew about the Japanese military culture at the time, they would not have surrendered until we were march down on the emperor himself, and they may have fought on after that. According to estimates, the atomic bombs saved more lives than they took.
(As far as fallout, the US military can claim ignorance on that one. Nuclear weapons were not fully understood at the time, and we needed to end the war quickly.)

I like the ideas regarding the homeworlds. Today I was thinking and the human worlds will probably be small, low population colonies (since we're new to space travel). Hierarchy worlds will include some sprawling city-worlds, the Novus will have factory facilities which dominate entire continents, and the Masari will have worlds covered in temples and ruins. I do like the ideas, especially the swamps.

Yes. Rigging is used for EVERYTHING in the game. Each model has a ROOT bone, which acts as the center of the object in the game. Every weapon is fired out of a bone, and any unit deployed spawns at a bone. Particle effects are placed at bones and collision meshes are attached with bones. Rigging is very important to EaW and all models, even if they are unanimated, need bones.

All in all, we need a rigger pretty desperately people.

I took a look into the Masari and I don't feel that they would cross over well. The models could be fixed (although the guy who was helping with this has been very busy lately), and realizing this, I looked into the code. I would like each faction to at least resemble its UaW version, and I don't think this would work with Masari. Their light/dark modes could be managed on an individual unit basis, but I'd rather have it army-wide if I were to implement them. Additionally, I have planned out the mod's campaign without the Masari and feel that implementing them would be difficult.

I may later reconsider adding the Masari in as an expansion to the mod.

And yes, all the planets come from my imagination.

Install the mod to your mods folder, just as once with do with 64bit. Then, right-click the shortcut and select properties. You will need to change "Program Files (x86)" in the Target and Start In parameters to "Program Files". Hope this helps.

This will have plasma weapons (similar to those of the Hierarchy walkers in the Land beta) and beam weapons (similar in appearance to those of the Purification mechs and drones of the land beta). It will also carry some fighters, though not as many as the Hierarchy carrier.

The Habitat Walker's unit ability is to deploy a temporary reinforcement zone. Only one may be deployed at a time and it can be destroyed. It's drop radius is slightly less than that of a map-generated landing zone.
