not dead just busy, its only been a month and the sdk is only beta right now
it all depends on how useful the SDK is
i based the characters on characters from jurassic park, that was kind of the whole idea. I want to stick with left 4 dead simply because i like the gameplay already and i think it will work really well wth dinosaurs replacing the zombies.
i'm glad to see moddb got a high profile sponsor for the MOTY awards such as the US air force. I disagree with most of what has been said here.
your not going to get anyone asking like that
i never understood why people want dirt and scratches on "new" vehicles. We wanted a nice dark stealthy texture for the apache but trust us it will look a lot better in game.
as of right now we are 100% focused on TD as there is still a lot we have planned, you don't want to bite off more than you can chew.
amazing stuff, I always look forward to your updates. Great Work
i was interested in making a freespace mod for EAW back when people first started playing around with the assets, I only got the galactic map to look like the freespace node map though. I replaced all the planet models with green grid spheres, looked almost exactly like the mission briefings in freespace 2. However i'm not much of a coder so i couldn't figure out how to make them red for enemy or yellow for neutral if that was even possible.
I've never played sins of a solar empire but ill keep an eye on this mod.
so theres no categories this time, it can be anything?
were doing the best we can :), hopefully stuff will speed up once classes wind down for some of us but things are getting there. I can speak from experience with many mods that the people on the Tiberian Dawn staff are probably the best i have ever worked with.
we all had to choose a project to work on and i choose to do some 3D character designs, it could be anything related to digital art. thanks for the comments.
i think many of the people in this group are already part of a mod but i could be wrong, talent is pretty hard to come by now unless you have some extremely good appeal.
i think what Gaint0taku was tying to say was he used poly modeling. You extrude faces from a single polygon (in max just select an edge and hold down shift key, its a fairly popular method to use for basically anything ,I used it to model the helmet i posted on here.
looks good, its not too often you see someone 3d model a motorcycle.
xenon we don't know that yet, rar is for compression not installation
sure i actually have a better render now. Your right about patience though, you have to treat every part as a separate model its easy to just blast through something and do it poorly but when you get good results from spending time on something it really pays off. I worked on this helmet for a little bit each day for about a week and just stepping away when i got frustrated.

yeah thats how i got into Maya too, my school didn't have the unlimited edition though so i bought the academic version to use. Although i still prefer 3ds max overall just seems like everything is easier to access in max.
hey thanks for the comments they are really appreciated! Just for a little info on the painting the background was painted first then i rendered the carrier and aircraft in maya giving me the basic shapes to work off of. I then detailed them in photoshop, however i wish i had noticed the duplicate brush marks from the smoke texture in my opinion that really hampered my image but i didn't catch them until after i submitted it.
sure ill get some info up, but basically I box modeled the carrier, for the ocean i used maya fluids, also for the sky. You have to have maya unlimited to use fluids though.
were not dead in anyways, were very active on our team forum. We just try to make everything perfect before showing it off, blogs have become more of a monthly event rather than a weekly event.
we are still working hard don't worry :)
this one was supposed to be in the style of a matte painting
yeah i was hoping of being added to the team again too

I am currently a student studying information technology and digital media. As a digital artist I enjoy painting in photoshop and 3D animation in 3DS Max or Maya. I also enjoy playing guitar, flying and aerobatics (currently working on my license). My favorite games include Command and Conquer 95, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, Freespace 2, and Operation Flashpoint.
