Get a Life

Mod review

An epic journey through many different environments, all whilst retaining an appropriate atmosphere for each area. From intense, to subtle creepiness, to hard horror, the developers know how to set the mood. The body part health system is also really original for a mod, and will make you think twice of how you use your dwindling supply of health packs for the body part you need the most. The storyline is also interesting, although I'll admit that it starts getting out of control near the end. However, it still delivers a satisfying experience from beginning to end and actually makes me want to replay it again, just because of how vast it was. There were a few issues, such as having the flashlight as a separate, equippable item similar to doom, but they do not completely break the game.

Mistake -1

Mod review

Very well done mod, a straight upgrade from the original mistake. Brilliantly dark atmosphere complemented by a subtle storyline. The game in general feels like an intense nightmare.

PARANOIA

Mod review

Very professionally done mod. I was impressed with it's dread inducing atmosphere and in-game lore. There were many moments where you are on the edge, but don't expect a pure horror title. Despite that, it integrates action and horror elements better than most out there, however there are a few downsides.

For one, it's somewhat short. Paranoia ends out of nowhere right when you would least expect it. Because of that, the ongoing storyline (which was very interesting I might add) is just dropped, leaving many questions unanswered. This could perhaps be mended if the developers would release an expansion of sorts to close the gaps and give us a solid ending.

Afraid of Monsters DC

Mod review

Simple. Horror. Perfection.

A vast improvement from the original Afraid of Monsters. Among the plethora of added content are multiple paths, different endings, new monsters, and more. All the old environments have been given a graphical overhaul along with some much welcomed new ones. Even if you've played the original to death, like I did, this is still worth a play and a half. Rumpel still finds ways to instill raw horror like no other in the industry, both mainstream and indie.
