I've got some more info.. It's actually something to do with Shadow of Mordor. In my game there's an invasion onto Esgaroth. During this very turn, the siegers, Shadow of Mordor, has a 10/1 advantage over the defenders and it would surely be taken by Mordor. There's just something that makes the game crash right here. Right when the turn goes over to Shadow of Mordor after the Easterlings. Maybe it's too many scripts running at the same time with Mordor conquering Esgaroth and Invasion ending, etc?

The game works if you install it correctly

Try uninstalling the entire Medieval II: Total War game. Uninstall EVERYTHING. Then reinstall Medieval II: Total War, then all the mods you wanted to play.

I also had to uninstall everything to get the game to work.
Best of luck, DaC is really worth it and so much fun!

Hey, thanks for your amazing work. This game is so much fun to play, I've enjoyed every second of the game so far!

But now, almost 100 turns and 50 hours in, on the campaign map I get a crash saying "Unspecified error, game will now exit". I tried lowering the graphics but it's not that. It seems to happen when the Easterlings of Rhun take their turn to conquer Esgaroth.

Any suggestions on how to fix it or has this happened to anyone else?

I'm stunned by this mod. You're a legend BlackFire! I'm using your mod for Crysis 2 as well! :)

But does this mess up other singleplayer maps? I tried Amazonia River after this mod and the visuals were messed up on that one?

Hey MERP-team, it's Ced.

I'm sorry it had to end like this. It's a really bitter end for all of us. I've got a clump in my throat because I'm so angry at Warner Bros. I would have returned for sure if we had gotten a permission to continue. For now I'm going to lay low and not be part of any modding projects.

Good luck to all of you! See you later

Thanks for your reply!

I've looked into MoS, but to me it seems it hasn't got as many options as BS's submod had. But I take it the core features are the same? Which do you think is better?

I've also heard that MOS isn't compatible with the Fellowship Questline, is this true?

I don't think the Estate can have any problems with this mod if they didn't have any for Hunt for Gollum. If non-profit was the decider, well, MERP is too.

Imagine if everyone would tell just one friend or two about the petition, we would have 40 000-60 000 signatures :D I know I will persuade everyone I know to sign the petition ;) People, do everything you can! Together we will save MERP!

I would say you are mistaken. If 20 000 people boycott WB's products from anywhere ranging from a simple The Hobbit ticket to Guardians of Middle-Earth and LEGO LOTR, roughly calculated they would lose anywhere between 0.5 to 2 million dollars.

I think commenting on videos on youtube etc. are good for many things; We get more publicity, and the more publicity we get, the better. Things like this mainly damage WB's brand, and I think this is a bigger threat to WB than the loss of cold hard cash.

I don't quite understand what you mean with "if they used own game engine", how would this make things different? LOTR content would still not be allowed. Releasing this on Skyrim is what indeed makes it possible for MERP to be non-profit project. If MERP would make a own engine they'd have to be a freaking game studio. Besides, I think it would be important for us all to realise, and not least WB, that MERP would be likely increase WB's sells in LOTR-themed games. Releasing MERP for Skyrim would surely result in more LOTR fans?

The best way to go now is to spread the news about MERP, and anything that would have WB take us seriously, like a written letter campaign, so they would listen. Because I am sure WB would benefit enormously if they liften the C&D.

Who agrees with me?

Hmm guys, I must agree with Isnbold here. Although going personal perhaps was wrong. I agree that we should keep things civil. But what makes you think Dark0ne can't help us? This is what it's ultimately about; helping a modding team? Of course publicity over at Nexus would help us.

Hey man I totally agree with you about Dark0ne being a coward. Why the **** can't he mention and that way help MERP? I just don't ******* understand.

Honestly, does WB even OWN THE RIGHTS to LOTR? I'm under the impression that they do OWN A LICENSE which is a completely different thing. WB does not own the rights? They have a license to those rights (which they had to fight the Tolkien estate over, which is why The Hobbit had nearly 3 year delay in starting production). How can they protect something that they don't truly own? If I bought a ticket to a theatre, and saw that the guy sitting next to me has sneaked in without a ticket, do I have the right to personally throw him out by force? Of course not. That's the right of the owners of the theatre ie. Tolkien Estate. Has Tolkien Estate kicked MERP out of the theatre? No. My suggestion is that MERP contacts the owner of the rights, the Tolkien Estate. If they agree with WB, unfortunately a private project is what MERP would become. Can MERP still show progress in public? This I don't know.

hi MERP, this is Ced, former MERP-team member. I know you wonder where I went, and I'd really like to explain it, but only after this C&D issue has been cleared.

Just wanted to let you know guys, WB has no legal right (100% positive) to stop you guys from doing the project privately. Don't you see that's why they didn't want to negotiate because they know they would lose. They are just trying to scare you now.

It goes without saying that if I draw LOTR picture to privately enjoy, no-one can stop me. THIS IS NOT ILLEGAL. It's as simple as that and no law is needed for this. We'll be fine :)
