Ashes 2063

Mod review

Utterly phenomenal total conversion campaign. 2063 and Afterglow are some of the best single-player FPS games you can play currently.

Action packed, spooky, vast, and insanely immersive considering the engine.

Fantastic sense of art direction, level design, sound effects, soundtrack, it all comes together.

Must play for any fan of classic Doom, post-apocalyptic settings, or fast-paced brutal shooters.

INFRA: Underground

Mod review

A pretty great, if short, mod with some level design and puzzles reminiscent of the regular game. A bit more linear but the good news is that it's quite a bit harder to get lost in this mod and there isn't as much back tracking as the regular game. Only bad things I can think of are the overuse of Morko to the point where you get desensitized to his presence and perhaps an overabundance of batteries. Other than that, not many complaints and I would recommend this mod as an addendum to anyone who enjoyed the original game.

Triptych

Mod review

Triptych as well as Worry of Newport are some of the best mods available for Crysis. The voice acting is great for mod standards and the writing is decent enough to keep you going. Best part of the mod is the atmosphere and detail put into the environments-- great work has been done with the Crysis assets and it's almost unrecognizable from the vanilla game. The only real negatives I have is that the invisible walls are a bit in your face sometimes and some cutscenes drag on (although they're beautiful at least). Other than that it's a must-have for Lovecraft or horror fans.

Transmissions - Element 120

Mod review

The new gravity gun mechanics add a very cool new gameplay element to go along with the great and immersive map design. The whole feel of the mod is very smart and well done. Player attention to detail is rewarded with the new "zoom" scanning mechanic that gives you hints to surviving environments and solving puzzles. Highly recommended.

Ultimate Apocalypse Mod (DOW SS)

Mod review

Despite some minor balance issues, this mod is sick as ****, to put it bluntly. Definitely pushes the DoW engine to the limit with insanely huge battles and units with tons of variety. If you could only get one mod, make it this one.

Thief Gold HD Texture Mod

Mod review

Great work, and a good reason to give TG another play-through.

FakeFactory Cinematic Mod

Mod review

Some of the character models are very... odd and disproportionate to say the least. However, the extra detail put into not only the textures but also the environment is definitely very impressive and worth a second playthrough of the HL games.

PARANOIA

Mod review

An unimpressive ending (compared to most of this mod) hardly takes away from this overall extremely well made horror mod.

Roma Surrectum II

Mod review

Definitely one of the best mods ever released for Rome: Total War. Although not quite as "hardcore" as Europa Barborurum or Rome: Total Realism, this mod strikes the perfect balance between depth and simple fun, with quite the graphical overhaul to boot. Once you play the game with this mod, it's hard to go back to any other, or vanilla for that matter. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
