I'm an Unreal Technology Consultant currently located in Newcastle, UK. I studied Computer Games Programming at the University of Derby and Computer Games Development at the University of Central Lancashire. I have an avid interest in game design from a technical perspective and visual effects. In my spare time I enjoy my local live music scene, and a good pint of ale (or six). I currently work for Pitbull on Epic Games' projects, recently worked at Lionhead Studios, shipping Fable: The Journey and co-authored the third volume of the UE3 Mastering Unreal Technologies books.

Hi atsebak - if it's something you're interested in, it's worth exploring. Games development is a pretty difficult industry to get into, so you have to do a lot of groundwork before you get there; and once you are there, the working conditions aren't great and nor is the pay. All that considered, it's a very unique and extremely creative industry to work in, which for me more than makes up for the cons.

It's because the game initially is slow to "connect" players. You don't get it in subsequent rounds of play.

1024 is still on the cards, but I haven't been home now for nearly six weeks due to working at Lionhead. I won't be moving into a new home for few weeks still either.

I'll get there. I'm pretty busy at the moment. It is actually all up and running (almost) - the snag is that the player is not spawning on a team (and thus ALL the bots shoot at you, and you can never win).

I don't check this profile all that often (I'm quite busy and have worked on a LOT of mods over the years) - and I don't get notified when someone posts.

Anyway, there is no way to make this work with other mods, it's specifically a heavy rewrite of the Warfare game mode code.

The PhysX card is not required - the content only contains Unreal Tournament 3 map files and content files. PhysX would however ensure that the tutorials run more smoothly, but it should run without.

The issue isn't the 'memory' as you call it (storage space ). The issue is the literal memory, the RAM. It only has 256Mb of main memory, and 256Mb of video memory available, and that's really very little compared even to a very low-end PC.

As for the audio, the ball is in Sony's park on that one. Only they can release tools or similar to allow 3rd party modders to convert audio.

Third person views can give the player an advantage that first person views don't have - as intervening terrain does not necessarily block line of sight - so not every server would want it and most wouldn't.

It is however a very nice optional mutator to have :)

It's often the case that many can't deal with basic modeling, but there's always a time to learn; each to their own.

As to file size, I doubt that it'd be horrendous. A good ZH map is normally four or five megabytes in size; a 20kb mesh file isn't going to add much to that. I've never however experienced any problems with map.ini not being transferred, although it really wouldn't surprise me.

Not a bad hack, if not perhaps a little unsightly because of that seam. The best technique is probably just to model a tunnel in GMax/Max and import it in. That way you can better control how units can pass through and over it =]

I'm afraid ceased development earlier this year. The main reason for this is that we couldn't find a dedicated project manager, and that the existing staff did not have enough available time to commit to the project as they were by now working full-time in the games industry.

Go ahead and feel free to visit the website. Although very little of the ingame is visible (due to lack of production). There is still a large amount to read up on. If you feel bored, please go ahead and read up on 'The 75 weapons of OutCast'.

Also, the forums on the said website are always up and running, registery is free. It would be nice to have them going at last.

Please post your comments, negative or positive. It would be nice to see what people think, and it would aid the production process.

David Hunter is simply a collection of good material for Q3A combined with an entertaining new set of weapons and most importantly a gameplay element making it much faster paced than the slow-witted Q3A and Q3TA. It's dynamic and a lot of fun, even if it isn't as different to Q3A as you might have expected.

When it's available, download it and enjoy it for what it is.

On another note, there is a slight breach of copyright contained within regarding the removal of author credit txt files. This was unfortunately necessary during compilation (we can't supply a poor user with over 100 files entitled 'readme.txt'!), and a full list of those responsible will instead be made at the end of the manual. Sorry!
