I think you guys could benefit from opening a public discord, since I think this mod suffers a bit from the lack of a community around it.

I think they took down the site right when the copyright issues happened. Since individual websites are kind of obsolete nowadays.

I don't think they even updated it when the project was rejuvenated.

I hope those palm trees are placeholders, since those appear to be the models from de_dust which look like date palms or a related species. They're very recognizably north-African looking to me rather than the type of palm trees you might expect in a tropical environment.

They sorta fit as artificially planted when near the visitor center here, but I've also seen them used quite a few times as part of the wilderness where they seem to stick out more.

BACK??? Oh finally. At last, the only mod in existence that with actual good-looking jungles for the source engine. And NOT ported on Unreal engine, too!

I'm just hoping it's not gonna get transitioned into csgo-edition-source like Operation Black mesa did. This IS a Half-Life 2 mod after all, would be a shame for it not to feel like one.

Nonetheless, I would say that this is probably my absolute favorite mod on ModDB and I'm absolutely ecstatic that's it's finally back after so many years.

If there's no longer any intent to work on the mod anymore (as there seems to be) can you please just do what the Opposing Force 2 team did and release all the neat stuff on github or something of that nature?

There's so much great stuff here for mappers (only time I've ever seen someone make a convincingly good-looking jungle environment in default source, even by today's standards), it'd be a shame if it just ended up in limbo (which i guess it technically already did but hey I can still dream can't I?).

This mod's too unique to become one of trillions of abandoned source-based projects that flood moddb. I at least wish some of the stuff here could be put to good use instead of just leaving a mark for being generic asset store dinosaur models from the big you-know-what.

Hey I just wanted to make a quick little suggestion:

It seems that you have both replaced the pteranodon and dimorphodon with meganeura, and I would like to suggest for dimorphodon being replaced instead with Palaeodictyoptera, a 6 winged insect from the mid-carboniferous period.

This looks really good, actually. Despite the following sentence being quite generic and overused: Better than the BM version. No seriously, i think it is. The BM version itself appears to differ quite a lot from the source material, looking more like a generic soldier that was reskinned to look a hecu marine than an actual one. This one, however, does not. The design is quite unusual and definitely reminds me of the soldiers from the first game munch more. I'm especially liking the camo helmet and goggle shape that isn't just round circles.

Man my favorite t-rex design got replaced by my least favorite t-rex design.
This is probably the change that got me tho most anger over a redesign. Man i hope this model isn't gone.

I'm sorry but this is terrible, the t-rex was had the best design on there before it got changed to THIS atrocity. I came here trying to see some cool updates but all i see is a dinosaur redone for the worst. It's way too glossy, looks like a mammal. I mean this is supposed to remind me of a bird, which it fails horribly to do, it looks more like a cutsey cartoony feathered t-rex. The old one looked like an actual animal and was the probably the best t-rex i had ever seen, this one just looks like someone tried to put feathers on a t-rex and basing it on a lion cub.

That turned out quite obvious.

The mod's dead and i really need to get this out of the way so:

The reason why it dosen't fit the hl2 universe is because it is way too humanoid, every synth in hl2 and hl2 rtb looked very alien and even the humanoid ones looked more like human caricatures done by aliens rather than humans. And it would be a humongous coincidence for a completely different race to look like a human being without needing to AND being enslaved by the combine. I would have prefered the mod team to have used this synth instead: Tinyurl.com wich would both look alien and fit the mod quite well. But hey what is done is done.

-model files look nothing like original ones from the source engine and are instead a garbled mess
-overall nothing still works exept the sound files

I think the "frown" should be removed, because it looks like it's annoyed right now.

The shock trooper is my favorite creature in the half life series and i REALLY wish it's design wasn't ruined. For a mod that seems to try to keep the designs close to the original, this looks quite like a letdown.

Please tell me that this is the definitive model.

I know that this is an old picture, but i REALLY wish this wasn't the final model. I am also hoping that this Moddb.com is the second version of the model.
