.qc (dot qc) - the group for quake c coders of all denominations. If you make quake one mods and write code in quake c, join our group! I'll try to answer any quake c questions - please post your inquiry in the forums...
Quake-c can do cool stuff. Like add-in crates (you saw them all over the place in the shareware episodes, not so much on registered levels...) can be opened with your trusty axe.
Here we found a gold key. Just another fun upgrade used to add new and interesting items to Chaos mod: Archon - Moddb.com
This turns out to be a really great item add vector. Players (of Quake one) are used to seeing them on levels. They dont always stand out - kind of fade into the background.
And it isnt obvious what the item is - just a generic crate. And it takes effort to open them. Reward goes to the opener.
(I kind of borrowed this idea from Half Life 2...)
