quite and old scene that i never actually finished (cus im no good at post effects like gun fire ect) but maybe one day i will :)
Besides the fact that REX doesn't seem to look as I remember him. He seems a bit too boxy and probably a bit too wide. Nonetheless, I have to say wow. The render to me is very very well made, I love the amount of detail put into it and the render itself looks amazing.
I also am very much enjoying the lighting on this image.
Awesome work mate, keep at it !!!
Metal gear rex was incredibly boxy, even in MGS 4 where he makes his return.
I think you have his general shape down, but the front just looks totally wrong, in fact, this is not a good rendition of REX at all, I'm sorry, But I love rex' design out of all the MGS games and you have butchered it.
Now I'm not saying these are bad models, they are infact really decent and the texture work is quite nice, but you would of been better off calling it something else.
Rant, rant, rant etc.... rant over.
Here's a good reference pic for ya. ;)
Ps3media.ign.com
meh i dont think thats fair, also your reference pic is a damaged rex from mgs4 with the cab open, hes going for a sorta mass prduced new rex as a bipedal tank just like the gekko in mgs4. the only prob i see is the head seems not to be wide enough, and the head is a bit thinner (like in this pic Google.co.uk)
I'm not having a go, but how do you know thats what he's going for?
Also, even though it's the damaged version from MGS4, it's still a clear reference for the head and how it works.
The head should actually be spererate as it can move independently from the body, as you can clearly see here, the body and head are one piece.
thats what i ment by the head being thnner, the head looks to be independent its just a bad angel. Also if you look in the background there is an other rex, so its obviously being mass produced, as the original rex was destroyed, i would assume these are two newly produced rex's.
maybe i can clear things up a bit lol, there are actually 100's of designs for rex all over the internet. you are correct Kiory that is not an accurate representaion of the original rex from MGS1 but i did not claim it was :)
my rex is mainly a mixture of alot of differnt refernces i could find at the time it was made. i was not trying to emulate the original as it is hugley differnt when you actually look at the orignal (sloped head, longer jaw ect).
as for the mass produced aspect, i had not made it with this in mind whilst i was making, it was more when i decided to put him into a large scene that i decided it would be cool to have more than one of them.
maybe i should i have specified that it was not ment to be a replica. so instead of original rex, think of it as 'rex MK-3' appricaite the comments though guys, cheers.
Ahh the author speaks!
Fair enought mate, like I said man I wasn't dissing your models at all, I think their great!
lol no worries mate, i think its always kinda risky posting work based on stuff that has such large pasionate fan bases like MGS, so many people played and loved the games that they each know in thier head what it is to them, so stuff that differs form thier own visions can become really out of place.
i put up another to show the back and mechanics a bit more too Moddb.com
good job excellent models :) keep up the good work
I have nothing else to add besides what they told you before, but; extremely well done.
So awesome, is this gameready models ? :)
And to add the gunfire effects, you should just go Photoshop ;) :D
great work on model :)
