The next part of the popular multiplayer shooter series is coming - and, according to the developers, Unreal Tournament 2007 will bring a lot of fresh ideas and solutions. The game will use the breathtaking Unreal 3 Engine. It is confirmed that Bombing Run, Assault and Domination gameplay types will be no longer included, and will be replaced with a new massive battle Unreal Warfare mode. Other gametypes - Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, Team Deathmatch and Onslaught will remain intact. There will be also changes in weaponry and equipment - the Bio Rifle will be merged into Canister Gun, with the Mine Layer and Grenade Launcher. Link Gun and the mysterious AVRiL weapon will be added. The Minigun will be replaced with Unreal's Stinger. A number of vechicles, as well as improved AI, voice recognition and focus on gameplay has been also confirmed.

Description

A single download containing many tutorials and example maps by Ageia, demonstrating the use of PhysX and physics in Unreal Tournament 3, that was previously, but no longer, available on the PhysX website. This file contains a series of map files that demonstrate many techniques that can be employed by mappers (and coders!) to make the best use of physics in their level designs and mod projects. This file is assumed to be mostly complete, please contact me if you believe there are any missing files. This file unfortunately does not contain the PhysX video tutorials.

Do you need the PhysX card for it?

It's tutorials about the PhysX card used in Unreal Tournament 3. I'm sure they are readable pdf's or videos, so I don't think it would be necessary to have the card. However you would need the PhysX card to actually make use of the tutorials in practice.

The PhysX card is not required - the content only contains Unreal Tournament 3 map files and content files. PhysX would however ensure that the tutorials run more smoothly, but it should run without.

Is there an online version? If not perhaps post a tutorial linking to this file so people know what they can expect before downloading a 700mb zip!

I'm not hugely familiar with the content, but the reason for uploading the file, is that the content was pulled by Nvidia after they took over Ageia - this is now the only mirror. I need to familiarise myself with it before I can actually make any detailed comment.

It is absolutely not worth the 700MB.
Trust me.

It's a bunch of maps with a few physic objects interacting with each other, but in a really simple way.
If you want to see PhysX in action you should rather go to your System Controls and launch "Ageia PhysX" and then go to the "Demo" tab.
These demos are identical to what you will see in UT3.

I don't know, I've had a look at it, and it's pretty good to be able to open them in the editor and see exactly *how* to set up objects with complex physics. It is a rather large download though.
