Underrail is an old school turn-based isometric indie role playing game that focuses on exploration and combat. It's inspired by western RPG classics such as Fallout, Arcanum, Neverwinter Nights and System Shock 2.
The game is set in a distant future, when the life on the Earth’s surface has long since been made impossible and the remnants of humanity now dwell in the Underrail, a vast system of metro station-states that, it seems, are the last bastions of a fading race.

The game is updated to version 0.1.8.0 on Desura and GamersGate, soon to be updated on Groupees as well. You'll find all the new stuff listed here and in the previous dev log.

As promised, I've added a number of new feats and psi abilities. With feats I mostly focused on melee combat and grenades, both of which were sorely lacking in that department.
In regards to new psi abilities you'll notice I've added an extra thought control ability. This means that there's now an equal number of psi abilities across all psi schools. You can learn most of the new psi abilities from the existing teachers (this might change in the future), with the exception of Bilocation for which you must look elsewhere (those who played through the whole game before will have a good idea where to go ).

This demo showcases a number of starting areas of the game. It should provide for a couple of hours of gameplay.

loved. LOVED! loved the video.
tried the demo. wont even start :(
right click, launch.
am on 64bit win8.
help!
- make sure you have Media Player installed as windows feature
- make sure you installed the demo with setup.exe (not the .msi)
- try running as admin (depending on what version of the demo you have this might also be the problem)
+ got media player
? installed through the desura app - clicked here on the web site, opened in desura app, installed itself
- i can run the C:\Program Files (x86)\Desura\Common\underrail\underrail.exe as admin, same issue. hourglass for a few seconds. then nothing.
There needs to be an advanced form of shroomhead down the line for psionics. Psionic points just go way too fast as you advance further in the game.

Oh and did you tweak the burrower? Seems nastier than usual. I had to slip out of the (GMS vault) area heal, psi charge and come back to kill one. They just seem to hit way too hard especially since they are always accompanied by spawn. Mind you this was at level 7 with a predominantly psi based build. To take a group on i definitely needed to be near an area change/door.
There will be other ways to recharge a portion of your psi points in the future, but they will never be a free resource. That is, psi booster will always be necessary.
Don't know what's the last version I played. I remember buffing burrowers at some point but it wasn't in this patch.

Thank you for toning down the item degradation. It was making the game a chore. I still would prefer no item degradation but...
The new psi powers are nice but whew the new pyrokinetic power wipes out your psi points something fierce. Have to be careful when I use it. Regarding the thought control line it might be interesting to have an ability that only works on animals.
The siphoner is unpleasant... Well done.
Spoiler alert...
The Abram Spying mission had me interested then fell flat. I wanted more for the "boy scout" player. The guard is almost blase about you telling Abram false information. There is no reward for telling the guard about the cybernetic spider, no continuing plot. And I went through the trouble of stashing the spider before I went talking to the guard. I'd have loved some more counterintelligence missions from the guard. The honest player doesn't even get an experience reward for telling the guard about the spider thus advancing the plot. I'm hoping you plan on working on this some more.
Making these sorts of quest is very time consuming. Unfortunately, I can't afford to make each one perfect otherwise I won't have time to make enough of them. I'll look into XP rewards for different outcomes though.
if i buy this on desura will i get a Steam key if/when it makes it through Greenlight?
