Choose to be a commander and you will play an in-depth RTS managing the stronghold, or choose to be a warrior and you will play an intense game of first person combat. With the creation of a new game play genre, RTSS (Real Time Strategy Shooter), Savage expertly redefines the first-person shooter and real-time strategy genres by combining elements of both into one cohesive experience. As the commander in RTS mode, you will tackle resource management, develop a robust tech tree, plan your assault and lead real human players into battle. As a warrior in action mode, you will master many unique weapons, powerful units, and siege vehicles to fight a fast paced battle.
Set in a unique fantasy world eons from now where Humans and Beasts battle violently for their very existence. Savage transports PC gamers to the next level in multi-player gaming. Choose to fight on the side of HUMANITY, armed with science and technology, or take the side of the BEAST HORDE, masters of nature and magic. Each race has its own style of battle, its own leader, and its own way to victory. Which side are you on?

whitch one is better the first one or secound one i know this one is more popular...?
Hey Kickababy16.
Savage 1 is released years before Savage 2, but still has more players, clans, competitions and everything 100% free, unlike the premium accounts and paid content of Savage 2.
Savage 1 offers far more variation: a lot more maps with more than just a couple of routes, a real tech tree with real options, a flexible unit loadout offering lots of choices, different roles you can take in your team, real economy and strategic play where the commander matters. Most importantly, a unique combat system where skill is rewarded, and not the speed of clicking the the left mouse button.
Check this vid; it is relevant to the differences.

hehe, great vid there Daemon!
Savage2 just made it clear in the first 5 mins to me that a lot of the fun stuff isn't there and its far more common than Savage1. Even where both games use their own universe, Savage2 does it in a way you are used to from a lot of games, maybe more consistent, but less interesting.
Savage1 is so unique, you simply can't compare it to any other game. The melee, the RTS/FPS in an interesting environment, the teamwork and overall gameplay, along with a fine community make it a great game in my view. All bugs that may have hindered the game of getting more popular when it came out are long gone and fixed by generations of Community developers.
In my view, the only thing that could use improvement now are the numbers of players, come and play this great game.
Savage2 was just a bad egg in a game row that didn't take my interest longer than half an hour.
:D
This game requires libSDL-1.2.so. Since there is a lib folder in the game directory, maybe the developers can put it there. Thanks!
This has been corrected now. If you download the game now and don't have SDL installed then it will download the libraries and use them.
I bought this game ages ago, DAMN!

c'mon who doesnt like 1rst person shooter/3rd person slaughterfest!!!
Could anybody please tell me if this is a solely multiplayer game? No single-player campaign or ai-bots?
Yes, it's multiplayer only (online/LAN).
