Red Alert: A Path Beyond brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game, Command & Conquer: Red Alert to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've remained loyal to the style and feel of the 1996 classic, while integrating content from its expansions Counterstrike and The Aftermath with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3D engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game. Oh, and did we mention it's FREE?

All Which Was Lost Has Now Been Regained
I listen now to this compelling entry from EVE's soundtrack as I contemplate what a year it has been. We've gotten so much done, and the view of what we could and couldn't do has changed a lot as well. We've now successfully completed about 95% of the work on Beta. A lot of the old changes and even work that was was done has been, well, regained. Not quite how it once was, but in a better way. The mod's not dead. Here's what's left:

  • HIND Textures (3)
  • Mobile Radar Jammer animated and rigged
  • Wrenches animated and rigged (4)
  • Tech Scanners animated and rigged (2)
  • Shotguns animated and rigged (2)
  • Handguns animated and rigged (3)
  • LAW animated and rigged
  • Special lighting controls (more on that when Saberhawk finishes)
  • Final adjustments to maps/units/etc
  • Anything not on that list, but not yet announced as done, likely will be pushed ahead into the follow-up version instead of coming out right now. This includes the new Tesla Coil and other base defenses, and the ants. They're just not ready enough yet and not worth delaying over. A number of maps, along with upgraded weapons, will be released as part of the follow-up so it'll have some meat to it.

    Staff News
Poor Oxi is going to be away for a while due to some family-related issues. He is likely going to have a new place to stay shortly, but until that happens, things will be a little uncertain regarding his connection. We hope he gets his arrangements sorted out as soon as he can.

    Site Business
Drunkill got me some resized versions of the tastier screenshots we have from Beta to be put up in the media section. As more get taken and more videos are produce for blogs, and renders taken of completed units, the media section will get populated more. Obviously putting all that up is not quite a focus ta this time of course.

Ackart is going to be hosting the site for the Bluehell Group voice acting troupe, as well as the splash page for the triumvirate that is Bluehell Productions. Apocalypse Rising's site has had some pretty good work put in on it and it looks remind me of the old official RA2 site for some reason but a bit more industrial and menacing. Also, the voice actors will be getting some subforums here just as soon as I can remember to think about it and set them up (probably tomorrow therefore). Ackart is no longer hosting the TD C&C3 mod's site for personal reasons, including the fact that warez was being uploaded to it.

    Alternate Languages
As you know, a bunch of Koreans have recently downloaded 9935 and we've started to advertise more to the German community. Unfortunately our client is in English, isn't it? We're looking to change that for future releases. Thus, we are looking for fans who would be willing to help translate for us. You will be provided with a string base to start from that contains all of the stock Renegade translations, so you do not have to redo the core game text; just the stuff we've added in.

If you are willing to help, we need people who can write and understand English as well as one or more of the following languages:

  • Korean
  • German
  • French
  • Japanese
  • Chinese
  • Please let us know if you will be able to help us out with this. We'd like to make APB available to as many C&C fans as possible, even if they can't read English too well. We also need to translate the FAQ into these alternate languages, something you could start on right away if you are interested in helping.

Well that's it for this week, check the site or our profile in a day or two for another game update.

If you are interested to help us translating, we'd greatly appreciate it. If you know one of those languages and can help, please do.

I guess i can posts future stuff in black if you wish. it is kinda hard to read here, but on the forums the orange is easy to read.
