BLACK did the camera blur when reloading too, it's slightly irritating in game. Dare I say it's also unrealistic - why does everything go out of focus to suddenly only one object being in focus? Also experienced soldiers should instinctively reload without looking at their weapon.

Mad respect for your coding abilities though.

muzzleflash is probably there, it just doesn't show up in the video because its only visible for a couple of frames. Depending on how the author records his video, its possible that he sees the muzzle flashes correctly, but because they only appear briefly, they might come and go in the time between recorded frames, therefore not getting recorded.

Hands are sleepy. Needs a little dynamism. It's like the way you'd reload in a shooting range, not a real fight.

The reload anim is way too slow, especially for a pistol! :S

Anyway I like the camera movement and the slight blur. :)

More realistic than slow. I hate it in games like CoD were you drop a mag and almost instantly have a fresh one in your hands. It's almost like you're taking the empty one out and just putting it back in.

The camera movement is great but the blur doesn't fit...
maybe a depth of field effect when you can see very cleary the weapon
and you see a bit blurry the world

I know this video mainly covers the visual aspects, so I really hope that the sound is just WIP or temporary.

Yeh, me too.

The sound is way too hard...but the weapon-model is just beautiful.
Is it a Makarov-Pistol?

The sound is from Counter Strike, I think. I personally find the idea of blur quite realistic, but it's too jarring a transition.
Camera movement while reloading is just one feature that makes a game so much better visually... Call of Duty 2 is the first game with it that I recall. Keep it up!

As a person with a slight vision impairment, I really hate blur effects. This one is subtle, but it still makes my eyes hurt.

So please, make this a toggleable option. Honestly, I have a hard time imagining how it could possibly add anything to the game whatsoever.

It's not immersive in the slightest. In real life, your vision doesn't blur, you just happen to look at the gun instead of your surroundings.

Having the view shift to the gun isn't a viable option (Incredibly jarring and makes the player feel out of control - The PS2 game Killzone tried this and it was annoying as hell). But this isn't a good compromise, it's just annoying.

Your vision does blur, actually. It does when focusing between objects with great distance between them. That's not to say that the option mustn't be toggleable, especially if it hurts your eyes, but it actually is immersive.

Mutant1988 Jun 20 2011, 3:18am replied:

Thing is, it's not the same on a screen. In real life, you don't notice the out of focus objects because your vision is fixed on the thing in front of you.

You don't notice the out of focus environment when you're focusing on a specific point. Or rather, you do, but it doesn't bother you.

This doesn't happen on a screen, because everything is at the same plane of depth. You can't ignore the blur, because it's just as visible as the non-blurred objects.

I hope it'll be optional, necause it's cool effect, but i hate blur and focus stuff, it's like when you wathing movie in 3D and focus isn't at that part of the scene where are you looking at and you'r eyes are screwed up because of that.

I think if the BG is going to go out of focus when you reload, then the animation should pull the gun up to fill most of the screen, or at least to the center. It just makes more sense.

This means your focusing off target during reload, which marine infrantists are tought not to. Makes it less realistic acually :/
