Glest is a project for making a free 3d real-time customizable strategy game. The game is available for several operating systems and can be completely modified using XML and a set of tools.
The current version includes single player game against AI controlled players, providing two factions for the player to control: Magic and Tech, each with their corresponding tech trees, units and buildings.

Changelog:
- Lots of work to make MegaGlest a Linux distro friendly package (Debian, Arch, etc)
- Added Support for Russian and Ukrainian with proper fonts in Linux if installed.
- Map editor now supports diagonal flipping
- Windows users now have a shortcut to the mod folder in their MegaGlest programs Menu.
- Bug fixes including:
- Fix corrupted g3d viewer screenshots, and automatic screenshot mode does not steal focus for Linux users
- Proper network disconnect detection when connection drops in an abnormal way
- Avoid crash when user has no soundcard installed
- Better video handling for buggy opengl drivers that don't properly handle non power of two textures
- Better support for non ASCII file paths (like Japanese, etc) for international users and Unicode enabled parts of the code

what's the difficulty in modding this? i want to create a faction that uses mythical creates, like the dragon, but i have no 3d modeling tools, neither the expirience to do it.
How do i go about doing that?
hey nelson I suggest you look at the Glest forums and or/ wiki, there is much more info there. Glest is easy to edit, though making new models does require some dedication to learn. But don't let that discourage you!
First you need a 3D modeling program such as Blender (which is free).. a image editor such as Photoshop or Gimp(Gimp is free) to create textures... And a text editor like notepad ++(Also free) to edit xml files. And that's about it!
