Get fuelled up and prepare to race and explore a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by global warming, with players experiencing varying weather effects such as tornadoes and sandstorms, as well as a full day-night cycle. The game-world is over 5,560 mi² (14,400 km²) in size and completely free to roam both offline and online with up to 16 players. In FUEL, if you can see it, you can drive to it.

Description

Unofficial patch for FUEL that includes various core game fixes and improvements from the mod FUEL: REFUELED. No game-play is altered, it is compatible with all languages and is fully compatible with all users online (even those not using this patch). This patch is also fully compatible with the FUEL Demo.

Instructions:

  1. Backup your saved-game file.
With any mod for any game, you should always make a backup of your saved-game file. To do this you should navigate to your Documents folder and open the “my games” folder. Here you will see a folder named “FUEL”, simply make a copy of it.
  2. Extract .Zip Contents to FUEL or FUEL Demo Directory.
You must locate your FUEL or FUEL Demo installation directory. To do this on Windows 8; find the shortcut to FUEL, right click it and select "Open File Location".
Alternatively on other versions of Windows; right click on the shortcut, select "Properties" and then click on the "Open File Location" button.
If you’re using the Steam version of the game you can locate your FUEL directory easily via the Steam client:
    • Right click on your FUEL game entry within your game library.
    • Click "Properties".
    • Navigate to the "Local Files" tab and then click on the "Browse Local Files" button.
Next open the .Zip file you downloaded and extract the files to your FUEL or FUEL Demo directory. There are no separate versions of the mod for each version, so all files should be copied.
If Windows prompts you asking you whether you wish to overwrite any files then that likely means you have an older version of the Patch installed, you should deactivate and remove this first
  3. Open JSGME Mod Manager
Click on the JSGME.exe now copied to your FUEL or FUEL Demo directory. It will ask you to type a name for your mods folder, however you should leave it as the default "MODS".
  4. Activate "[C] - Patch #5" and "[E] - REFUELED 2013.1 [R2]"
In the JSGME mod manager window you will see a list of mods available to you. Patch #5 comes with 40 mod packages and there is no need to install them all. Patch #5 is broken down as so:
    • Mods denoted with "[C]" are core mods, in this case "[C] - Patch #5".
    • Other mods denoted with "[O]" are optional, I will cover these in the next step.
  5. Activate Optional Mods to Customize
There are 39 optional mods provided in the Patch #5 package, each is provided with a description when you hover your mouse over them. You shouldn't activate them all and not all will work with one another. For simplicity reasons with Patch #5, JSGME will give you a warning that says "Enabling this mod *may* have adverse effects on your game." when a mod combination not suitable to install is activated.
NOTE: For the most part it should be easy to identify which mods you shouldn't activate together - i.e. you should only install one vehicle color palette, one UI theme, one force time of day etc.
  6. Enjoy!
If you encounter any problems or require further assistance then by all means send me a private message or ask away in a comment and I will do my best to help!
Please don't forget to rate and maybe comment on my mod here (The unofficial patches are part of this project).

I've updated the package; now included in the .zip is a step-by-step installation guide with screenshots, a copy of the change-log and a preview of some of the optional UI mods contained within the package. The instructions on the "read more +" section has also been reworked to make things clearer too.

Also a few more lingering bugs have been fixed and this package has been brought up-to-date with the latest REFUELED mod version.

Yes. When you install this Patch #5 you must ensure all previous patches are removed as it is stand-alone. All previous accompanying optional mods should also be removed as they will have been updated within this new Patch (nothing is removed).

Apologies for the delay in reply, I am not notified of comments on downloads and media (and I have more than a few to keep track of :P). If you or anyone has any questions and I don't reply quickly then by all means PM me and get my attention :)

I have Fuel installed through Steam and I simply can't figure out where to put the patch. The instructions say to put it where JSGME.exe is, but that file doesn't exist. I searched the entire HD but apparently the files for the game have been renamed. Any assistance is this matter would be hugely appreciated.
