My apologies for this demo coming out nearly two months after our last news post, but several last-minute bugs prevented us from releasing on schedule. Nonetheless, we are proud to present version 1.0 of the demo of Alone.
As we stated earlier, the demo, which is most of chapter 2 of the full version, was supposed to feature a remapped version of Saxon avenue. Unfortunately, due to an error that causes the map to crash as soon as it has been booted up, this version of the demo does not include Saxon avenue. However, since we are going to work on patches for the demo, we are hoping to include it in a later version of the demo, but even if that doesn't work out, rest assured, it will be included in the full version.
To download, simply head on over to the Downloads page, and follow the instructions. There's also a list of known bugs, so be sure to read that to.
Enjoy, and see you again soon!

I spoke with Andreas in a notable interview a few months back and ever since have held an enormous respect for the man and what it is he sees in his projects, in his "horror", and in himself. Cry of Fear has finally launched and with it comes a turning point in open source gaming, modding, creative expression and a revitalization of the almost dead psychological modern horror that we have come to see in Jacob's Ladder, Silent Hill, Afraid…

Don't get me wrong on this one, regardless of anything I might have stirred up before now, I wanted to like this mod. But you have to realize, yes, it was in development for quite a long time, I've heard 4 years, and they've obviously got talent, but they just didn't use that talent properly, to be brutally honest. I'm not going to complain too much about the jump scares, because you DO need to throw a few at the player, if you want that horror atmosphere to mean anything. But there's such a thing…
