About Hearts of Oak: Conquest of the Seas with 12 comments by Pieter_Boelen on Oct 30th, 2012

Some of you may have already noticed, but we would like to formally announce that....

    proudly presents:

OK, so the preliminary cover art needs some work. Let's try that again, shall we?

    The PiratesAhoy! Community proudly presents:

This game is being developed to be the pirate and historical seafaring game to end them all. Realistic yet fun gameplay on land and at sea allowing both extensive free play and exciting scripted storylines should ensure that anyone with any interest in the Age of Sail should be able to live their dream!

Now the above may sound a bit vague. Therefore, we recommend you to have a look here:

At a Glance: First Game Concept

This article, also posted here on the ModDB, details our intents quite clearly. However, nothing is set in stone, so if you have any thoughts to contribute, NOW IS THE TIME!

    Help Wanted!

We are making this as an independent game without any financial backing. It is made by fully freelance developers in their spare time and will be available for free once we have something playable.

Therefore, we can use all the help we can get. So if you would like to contribute, please head over to the PiratesAhoy! Community forums! It doesn't matter whether you already have any skills or not.

    We welcome everyone!

    And don't forget to...

Hi there, I extracted the mod to my COAS directory and then tried to open the game, the game won't start and I get this error:

    "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"

    "E:\Program Files\Playlogic\Age of Pirates 2\start.exe"

"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"

Any idea what might be wrong?

GOOD JOB guys very good game but is it possible to put animated ship gun recoil and reload action to the crew? that will make the game more epic and the new mods are good but is there a fix storyline to the characters or they are just free roam piraty thingy?

So what's the difference between this and Pirates of the Caribbean? I know PotC was originally Age of Pirates II so is this a sort of stand-alone expansion for it?

POTC and Age of Pirates II share a lineage in that they are both developed by Akella and use the Storm Engine. The difference is that POTC works on a much older version of the engine. Also Akella gave the Pirates Ahoy community the source code for the newer engine, so we can mod it almost endlessly. POTC has more quests and plotlines, but is limitted in that its geographical area is limited to the Caribbean islands only, while AOPII has many cities/locations on the mainland coastline. Also POTC uses an older version of DirectX. The swordplay is also better in AOPII. Both are great games and we have excellent mods for them. GOF is our latest. See this: Youtube.com Also come find our mods here:http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php/topic/17530-gentelmen-of-fortune-v11-faqbugsinstalling/ and here Moddb.com
