announced too early?
There have been always some overlap between AoE's: in AoE and AoK:TC there were featured the Romans and in AoE:TC and AoE3 the Spanish conquerors and Aztecs. The centuries V and XV have been some sort of transition.
My guess is that XIX century is also that one. They will start in the last half of the XIX century, featuring some events like the American civil war (maybe too far), the Franco-Prussian war or maybe from the last quarter of the XIX with the African colonization with the zulu wars and the Boer wars, the Mexican Revolution, the Boxers or the Taiping rebellions, then going into full WW1, some interwar scenario and finishing in WW2, maybe expanding into Korea or Vietnam war.
The whole XX century by itself has a big jump on technology and AoE tends to focus on a consistent play style along the stages.
I personally expect less protagonism of WW2 because let's face it, there are myriads of ww2 games. Even Relic made CoH.
I wonder what the ages will be
WW1
WW2
cold war
modern?
it is age of empires dude, you research tecnology by the time
Maybe will be
interbellum (1920-1930+)
WW2
Early Cold war (1950-1960)
Late Cold war (1970-1980)
This seems more likely to me, in part because the time interval and the difference in technology and tactics between periods are not so big.
YES. I hope rise of nations 2 is next!
