The Vek is a nightmare. Swift moving, armored from blaster fire, a multitude of weapons, acid bombs, and I forgot to mention that the glowing mouth can fire a red plasma laser.... good luck fighting these, It was nice knowing you...

To compensate for the Vek’s awesome firepower, the Vek will be easily damaged by missile attacks. The concussion waves from the explosions actually rupture apart the creatures internal organs. This makes these things highly susceptible to missile ships, which gave the Hutts a huge advantage over them. As we work with the Vong units, thanks to Revan’s excellent UV Work Doci is able to easily apply texture assets that I develop for him such as the york-coral texture. Working with Revan and Doci is a great experience, and as we proceed more into the complex Vong textures we are giving Doci more opportunity to experiment with texture styles and detailing such as he did here with the purple veins. Great job guys, this ship looks amazing.

Update: due to game limitations, we cannot have the Vek take damage only from missiles... so, because the Vek does not have any dovin basals, it therefore has no shields, and that will be its weakness. Shame, I sorta liked the idea of missiles and that story but this game can only do so much...

Couldn't you simulate those properties with ridiculously strong and rechargeable shields and very weak armor?

Technically we might be able to simulate the effect, but our Vong units do not use shields for a few reasons, so including them for this effect only would force us to redo several core elements used in balancing formulas, etc. which is just not worth the time spent in relation to the very minor effect.

Just a question. The problem of former big mods was the Engine limitation of the game. But you told us you make enourmous progress, so how did you manage to overcome the engine limitations?

Description

A deadly anti-aircraft gunship/heavy bomber, the Vek was covered in rock-spitter AA tubes where were the equivalent of the DP20's Fast Tracking AA Turrets. The ship could fire in all directions and had a relatively fast speed, similar to that of a B-wing. Attached to the ventral side of the ships were clusters of green glowing acid sacs. These could be dropped as bombs onto enemy targets where the acid cloud produced would easily dissolve most metallic surfaces. Yorik-Veks flew in squadrons of 3.
