CAKE IS SERVED.

The 'cake' refers to an internal joke, where I promised Wic and Kad a sweet desert for all their efforts with our 3rd recode of the mod. This desert was the Vong, secretly began in production about 1 month ago, with tremendous help from my 2 secret bakers, Revan and Doci. Revan has been instrumental in working closely with me to develop new and better methods of creating UVs for texturing, and Doci has brought my textures to life by solving our 'seam' issue with wrapping textures around a spherical model. These 2 have been working extremely hard to help me bring the Vong to life. Thanks guys, it means the world for your help :)

Notes on Vong:

The Stronha features what we are calling the 'asteroid texture'. This texture will be on all our asteroids in the game. We are developing code that allows any Vong ship that has this texture to be able to automatically become invisible when entering an asteroid field. The Praetorite Vong invasion force will be comprised mostly of these types of disguised ships, where late war Vong warships feature mone bone growth and biological mutations. If you look closely, you can see Dovin Basals. These are the black/purpleish domes on the Stonha. These do in fact create blackholes that will 'suck in' enemy projectiles -- more on this later. Vong ships also do not have any targetable hardpoints. While the Stronha has 10 plasma volcanoes, they cannot be targeted or destroyed. Vong ships fight to the death, and therefore, the entire ship must be destroyed to eliminate it as a threat.

More to come Wednesday...

Does that mean that vong ships will be at 100% fighting strength till they die? I think ballance-wise this would be questionable. Also in the books vong ships could be cippled. They would keep fighting as long as they could but certain "hardpoints" were destructable.

The cake looks delicious by the way. I will prepare my body for diabetis.

Was this the thing Ordo mentioned chasing at the edge of the galaxy before it flew off into the void?

Its absolutely amazing how the two connect. Just think almost 4000 years prior to the Vong war, they knew we existed already.

Whats more amazing is the fact that stuff like those star shaped robots and the Great Heap somehow ended up in the galaxy before the Vong arrived

We were going through the asteroid fields of the Crispin system at the very edge of the galaxy, playing with the pirates and smugglers we found there. The main belt in the Crispin system consists of mainly small rocks covered in frozen methane gas shells and the pirates were using them for cover. Ha! I remember using a thermal generator to cause the outer layer of one of the asteroids to vaporize in a picosecond. It blew out and shredded the three smugglers using it for cover! But… that was a mistake…
The asteroid I had targeted was smaller than most, maybe a dozen meters on a side. On the outside it looked the same as any other; just a ball covered in frozen gas. But something must have been inside it… something inactive in the cold. The heat of my blast might have triggered something or woken something up. After I had hit, spots of light and heat appeared all over the thin shell still covering it, evaporating the gases. What lay underneath looked like some sort of rocky growth… a deformed rock pitted by scores of micrometeorite scars. I think something even older might have been inside that.
We couldn't catch it, but we could follow its hyperspace wake. We followed its trail as far as we could, heading away from the galactic core. When it finally led beyond the edge of our galaxy, we abandoned our efforts. Anything that wants to commit suicide in that great void is not worth our trouble trying to catch. That's the only story I have for now. I'll tell you some more stuff later, if we get the chance.

Man i definitely love this dialogue scene. Bioware did an amazing job mentionning what could possibly be a Yuzzhan Vong ship spying the galaxy, some 40,000 years before they actually invaded it (well in the old canon). The way Canderous Ordo, a mighty and fearless warrior, tells this story, is pure pleasure

i dont think that was a spia ship. it was covered in ice, i belive it may have been a left over from when they lived in the galaxy far far far the first time.

Description

They were always amongst us... we just never knew....

Easily missed as it silently glides through the asteroids, Stronha were 228m long, and armed with 10 Yaret-Kors (plasma volcanoes) and dovin basals. Stronha will have the unique ability to automatically turn stealth when moving in asteroid fields, only becoming visible if ordered to fire their weapons.
