War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. So if you're one of the many who have been enthralled by Tolkien's mystical world, this is a mod to watch!

A valorous folk indeed is the Noldorin folk, the relentless foes of Morgoth. Although they are perhaps less stout and daring than the Lords that lead them into battle, the Nargothrond warrior-infantry is composed of warriors no less valiant. Since the departure from the Undying Shores, these warriors have stood against the agents of Morgoth Bauglir, fighting under the banners of the brave Lords who command them. Tall and silver are their helms, their tall tapering shields grand and imposing, decorated with the devices of their Lords. In fine mail hauberks they are girt, of a make that in the Later Ages would be coveted and jealously guarded by any. Cloaks too they were garbed with, resplendently decorated with family crests, fluttering in the wind like so many banners. Swords too they bear, long and well forged. No less skilled in the wielding of their blades these warriors are than their Noble leaders. Fiercely they shall hold the line, their wrath and bravery fetching them renown amongst their people and the fear of all odious orc-folk.
