War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. So if you're one of the many who have been enthralled by Tolkien's mystical world, this is a mod to watch!
Nargothrond Mounted Archers, same as House of Fingolfin.
Accompanying the great knights of Nargothrond and the Nobles of House Finarfin into battle are the mounted archers of Nargothrond, selected from the skilled riders and archers of that folk. In stealth and secrecy they might stalk through the woods, harrying the spies of Morgoth, but on the open field they ride in great number, hounding to death the targets they please, escaping before the enemy may react.
With great skill do they wield their bows at range, and even the wyrm Glaurung learned to fear their arrows, for similar companies drove him back when he was still a young drake.
Gold is their raiment, with flying white cloaks and jewelled helms. With skill do they manoeuvre uneven terrain, and their attacks are like the strikes of a serpent, for swift they are and deadly as well.
Once they have expended their darts, these warriors will not shrink from the melee, for they bear blades as well, though their skill with the blade is lesser than with the bow, and they bear little armour.
Again, just some minor changes
Accompanying the great knights of Nargothrond and the Nobles of House Finarfin into battle are the mounted archers of Nargothrond, selected from the most skilled riders and archers of that folk. In stealth and secrecy they might stalk through the woods, harrying the spies of Morgoth, but on the open plains they ride in great number, hounding to death the targets they please, withdrawing ere their foes may react.
With great skill do they wield their bows at range, and even the wyrm Glaurung learned to fear their darts, for in his youth similar companies of mounted archers under the leadership of Fingon had driven him back to Angband with their unending hail of arrows.
Gold is their raiment, with flying white cloaks and jewelled helms. With great skill do they manoeuvre uneven terrain, and their strikes are like those of a serpent, swift and sure.
Once they have expended their darts, these riders will not shrink from the melee, for they are also girt with blades, But their time in the melee must be short for as their skill with the blade is lesser than with the bow, and they are clad in little armour. These riders have not the luxury of a prolonged melee lest many of their number be slain.
