When Aeson died he left an Empire almost as large as that of Alexander the Great. Diocles easily succeeded him as the Thracian High-King and Hegemon of Greece but eventually squandered the success of his predecessors. In 180 BC a civil war broke out that led, like during the aftermath of Alexander’s death, to the falling apart of the empire with several dynasties vying for control, resources and armies. Orpheus song that had accompanied the Thracian marching armies during years of victorious conquests, armies that had brought splendor and renown to an once fairly obscure people, had at last to come to an end.

The hydra of Lerna was known in antiquity as a multi-headed monster that spawned new heads each time one of its own was cut off. The five major factions have popped up like the multi-headed monster headed monster in this game. It's up to you, as a player, to defeat the monster while taking charge of one of the leading five families of the former Thracian empire in this grandiose alternative history scenario. Unique units and buildings for each faction in this vanilla like game with massive armies, dangerous barbarians lurking in the north and vengeful persians biding their moment in the east this mod offers plenty of game hours to play with.

Contents:

- Four complete new factions: Massilia, House of Balas (red Greeks), Amazonia and Kingdom of Atlantis.

- six rebranded modded factions: House of Strymon (Thrace), House of Melas, House of Kalas, House of Python, Chersonesos and Kingdom of the Carpi.

- A few eastern buildings have been added to the Greek factions in the east for further imersion.

- Almost every Greek faction has an elite armoured hoplites unit.

- Thracian units have been incorporated into five other factions beside Thrace.

- Cities have been renamed into their respective ancient Greek ones.

- Some ancillaries have been changed into a Greek version.

- Thracian family members have Greek surnames.

- Some units have been renamed into greek too.

- Royal Bastarnae function now as Roman legions in the CarpiKingdom expansion or 2.0 version.

- Far higher upkeep of Greek units in the CarpiKingdom or 2.0 version to keep the game challenging.

- A document with a full "historical" explanation of the Rise and Fall of the Thracian Empire has been added to the CarpiKingdom file (till 1.5 version). For the history buffs among you.

The Hydra file is the sort-off basic vanilla game while the CarpiKingdom mod is its expansion version. The latter offers an extra faction plus several new units.

My Amazon faction is dying out. Adoption and (wo)man of the hour kill new members instantly, and I am frightful of coming of age of my daughters. Also, cannot recruit spies. What could be the probelem?

Hello krys-titan, I have found the problem. The general amazon unit lacked the general attribute in the unit discription file and I had forgotten to make the agents recruitable by the markets. Fix made into new zip file.

Hello friend. I explored your project with my friends and noticed that is quite good and stable fantasy mod for Rome1 engine. The most good thing is the fantasy style with part of alt-history. I enjoyed gameplay in your mod with using phalangists and horsemen. Also played a lot with barbarian factions (Veneti are OP a bit, but my favourites!). I love vanilla-style greek units and 'no-romans' system.
Main advice to You - DONt leave this project and continue to work on it. Improve the plot and make more things in future. As the Guest wrotes below my comment, you really need to add there some monsters from Greek mythology. Its will be like Titan Quest Total War. You can ask authors of Narnia or Warhammer mod, maybe they can let you to use their content, maybe even speak with KurdishNomad (he is famous author of 2 great fantasy mods with 100% new content). Or you can do it yourself. Its would be good to see new music.
I didn`t make a mistake, when i gave you 10 in review. This mod really deserves highest reviews. Just don`t stop your work and continue it.
This mod have potential to be the most cool Greek-mythological project.

Now about reviews:

-Balance - 8\10 (some factions are OP)
-AI agression - 10\10
-Content - 8.5\10 (needs more new models and monsters)

Thank you very much for your kind review. It would be cool indeed to include some monster units but in that case I would have to have ask someone to help me out.
I'm above all grateful for the positive feedback on plot line since I really wanted to make a difference there.
For the balancing part I must say this was the hardest thing to do. Even with several ai trails the Veneti simply didn't do what I wanted them to do namely attacking Thrace at full force. Therefore they are a bit OP indeed (and they still act quite passive). The Veneti are there more as an extra challenge for Thrace than I considered them a faction to play with but great to know you had fun with them! Could you also tell me which factions you considered OP beside the Veneti? So I can work on rebalancing them. I don't know how to add new music but I'm going to dive into it.

Germans maybe. Other factions are well done, no OP. )) You can also fix hitpoints of Persian Immortals from 3 to 2.
About Veneti - you can give them 1 city near the Thrace and also make 2 new units, and the war with Thrace in the start. So they will be anyway agressive.
About monsters - as i know, there are also KLA unit packs. KLA made some fantasy units in his own packs, so you can connect with him in TWcenter and ask permission. Or (if my memory is not wrong) KLA unit packs are free and you just need to write Credits.
Anyway, don`t stop your project, keep going and improve it else.
Its potentially have name - Titan Quest Total War.
New music is really easy to done. You need sounds folder and descr_sounds_music.txt. Its your main base to work with it

what about the mythical monsters in future? cyclops, centaurs, giants, minotaurs?

Good point there but I'm afraid that my modding skills aren't good enough to create such fantastical creatures. It is also a vanilla game mod so I don't want to put much into it that would give away the feeling from the original version but thanks for the suggestion.

You can have just copy the units of warhammer total war, attention the mod, not the game for minotaurs and giants and for centaurs and cyclops you must see the mod narnia total war. And I have question how to copy the units created from another mod.
