Please keep making 4k content. There’s engine modifications out there including RADIUM where the engine wont downscale to 2048x2048. And with 64bit texture streaming we can finally utilise the massive amount of RAM we all have in our PC (going by 16GB here). With 4k textures RADIUM is using around 5.8 to 6.2GB of memory. It will sooner or later be like this for all mods and content.

They look amazing already. Keep up the good work! Loving these updates since I’ve been there myself. Nothing feels more satisfying than seeing your hard work pay off ingame.

I actually make 4k not for stalker, but to use them in other mods/games(I can always crop parts from them and they sill will be in high quality).

But most important thing is that even on other modern games its almost impossible to to see the difference between 2k and 4k textures so why hitting the limits if we can have the same good look, but with spare power/optimization?

I left only few textures in 4k in mod, but If I will see that there will be difference in Radium between those two I will upload all 4k textures without even thinking about it. Right now I dont see the point to clog Stalker with HUGE textures that dont make any difference...

actually if you look at it from ingame you'll see that even though the textures are nice and high res the meshes and map design will feel blocky and flat in places were it shouldn't be, like dirt, wall corners, etc

well, I cant really fix that, model is model, no matter what texture you use. In some places blurry low res textures distract you a bit from low-poly models, but it cant hide it. Hi-res textures can do the same in other places: distract players from looking at low-poly models in game.
But even if you would managed to make better meshes for stalker for all objects I would bet with you that stalker would have huge problems to work with them, engine is just not capable to use such meshes, to prove that its a matter of using any hi-res character models or more complex custom maps with lots of elements. Game can barely keep proper framerate even in powerful machines. After all stalker have its years, it was never designed to last so long, but still we can at least try to make it look better with textures or effects :D

I just finished my nemesis of metal textures -_-
I seriously had massive problems with those textures, I had to skip 4k res just to speed up making of it... Its not big deal, after all for Stalker I still resize all textures to 2k, but I found my self doing it to often recently. :/
