Bottom could use a bit more brown rust but that's just a nitpick, you friggin' nailed it!

yeah, I need to make them more rusty, but first I want to check how it will look on model in game.

Overall one of my next goal will be to make all textures more rusty and old.

Nice work. :) A bit more dirt and grime and they'll fit right in.

More grunge is the way to go. I always thought GSC downplayed the decay in their textures, compared to real life photos of the Zone. But that's probably because their references/sources are from early 2000's when the SoC development started and things weren't as decrepit as they are today, over 15 years later.

Actual Stalker development as we know it today, started in middle of 2002. Early version of stalker was clone of Unreal, where you would travel across dimensions/worlds, so most of their assets where related to SF theme and lots of it was still from Quake and their previous project Codename: Outbreak.
Then for short time idea was to put story in fake industrial city with lots of hills, but in April-May of 2002 they decided that story will be around Chernobyl and in that time most of assets where made :]

I found lots of source images that where used to make original stalker textures, and they are not from actual Chernobyl/Pripyat area, they are mix of different textures that where made by hand especially for game(you can also see that from textures them self where lots of elements and layers are repeated on different textures).

Also funny thing, real life its not like Misery, and actual Chernobyl zone is still full of colors and lots of elements didnt changed to gray/brown blobs of rust :D

My goal will be to make current textures older, but Im not gonna make it to look like some rusty-heaven. Other modders are free to modify my textures in that way, all they need to do is notify me and players about that. :]
Im gonna stick to original textures as much as I can. :P

Description

Yes, Mod is still alive.

Im working on few main vehicle textures and trains but mostly on remaining ground textures and concrete that "stick out" too much compared to already remade textures.

Dont expect next release soon, because my main goal will be optimization(read: resizing less visible textures that dont need to be 2k) and making some of textures more "older" or "destroyed" to fit more to stalker style, and that will take some time...

Some of new textures you can find in mod "Anomaly", so check it out because is worth playing(actually its first mod that I "actually" play this year... because rest was just... meh... played just to see them)
