Hi there, Autumn here with an update that should clear the air on various topics. I'm going to explain the past of the project, why it has taken so long. Where the project currently is and where the future of the project is.

Past.

This project was started by a friend and from what I recall it was more of a realistic looking shooter. But my memory is hazy and we started almost entirely fresh when I joined. We worked on it for several months but due to personal reasons (sounds dramatic but actually I just don't remember) he left the project. After this I wrapped it up and put it aside to focus on finding a job. Then at some point the data was lost and I've not had the time or interest to work on the project any further. I did however make attempts since then and that is what most the posts on this page are but work took up too much time and thus it simply wouldn't go anywhere. This takes us to a week or so ago.

Present. (Version 0.0.1 posted.)

Everything you see here currently is put together from what files I had on cloud storage and posted as a way to show this project is back on track. I'll admit my total surprise when I found out people were talking about this project and it is definitely kicking me into gear with getting this done. Right now my focus is to build a map pack themed on the original Metal Gear. It is simply a set of Doom levels but they will be build from chunks of Metal Gear maps as to add a sense of authenticity. It will also help me greatly over time as I'll have a much better understanding of the flow a Metal Gear level has in 3d. While jumping isn't a function I expect people to bind I am definitely interested in how vertical space can influence level design especially when based on a 2d game. I'll release one level when it is completely finished and then maybe more when I'm closer to completion but if you're just wanting the full map pack that will be version 0.1.0 of the game.

Future. (After version 0.1.0.)

This is where I'm going to remain a little vague as I don't want to promise something I cannot deliver. There are two components to the project I'm interested in and one is the core game. A Metal Gear experience in the Doom engine using assets based on Metal Gear. The other component is the multiplayer which I'm not going to discuss much but it'll be class based and will feature Stealth operatives vs Soldiers and is one of the few things I want to keep from the original goal back when it was first shown to me.

Eye, i left the project long ago and my friend took over. I still think about returning to it everyday but I likely won't. If I do, it's getting an overhaul. To be very honest with you, I doubt I'll be making another huge mod in DOom ever again.

Very Cool! Any chance of 8-Bit Enemies and Weapons from the MSX & NES Versions? Maybe even Mapping Out the Levels the same way they were in the Original too? Would be cool to maybe even though this it to be the 8-Bit Version that we could also get some David Hayter samples put in when he gets hit or dies..and maybe even a classic "Snake..Snake? SNAAAAAAAKE!!!" sample after you die too?

you could just use ketchup, it has worked with most doom mods i've played.
