LibreCoop 1.2 is finally here!

For those who don't know LibreCoop yet, it is an Open Source coop mod for Dhewm3, and if you ask "why yet another coop mod if we have already some?" then the answer it's simple: Because this one it's the only one who is totally Open Source and GPLv3 Licensed, and also who works with the dhewm 3 source port.

Download LibreCoop for Windows 32 bits

Download LibreCoop for Linux 64 bits (Compiled with Ubuntu 18.04)

What about other OS?: Compile for your favorite OS with the source code of Alpha 1.2!

Features of LibreCoop Alpha 1.2:

  • Cinematics partially working (some bugs to be fixed yet)
  • PDAs
  • Runs the whole Doom 3 campaign
  • Works with ROE too (librecoopd3xp, not tested enough though)
  • Survival Game Mode (where you can play with a limited ammount of lives)
  • Coop Game Mode (Infinite ammount of lives)
  • Improved IDTech 4 netcode a bit to help players with high ping.
  • Fast Monsters option (False by default), monsters are 50% faster and projectiles are 25% faster too.
  • Damage Factor option (default 1.0, g_damageFactor): used to make monsters do even more damage for a real challenge.
  • Open Source!!
  • Easy to make it compatible with custom maps, since LibreCoop barely uses custom scripts and .def, it is really easy to port custom maps with custom enemies to work with LibreCoop. (Actually all custom maps that work for OpenCoop should work with LibreCoop)
  • Uses the original OpenCoop 2.0 alpha + 2.1 patch maps to ensure a better coop experience while playing the original Doom 3 and ROE campaign.
  • Works with Dhewm3 1.5.0 and Dhewm3 1.5.1RC2 (recommended to use 1.5.1RC2)

Gameplay video:

Of course this is an Alpha release yet, and we expect some bugs to be found and fixed, so I'll be happy to read some comments related about bugs or problems to fix, this is an Open Source project so anyone can help and that's the idea.

Thank you!

Hello there. I have tried to play doom 3 co op with my friend, we have both set up dhewm3 on our dektops but are having trouble connecting to each other. Is it posible to set up dedicated servers? How would someone set up a server using port fowarding or hamachi? If anyone can help it would be very appreciated!!

You can skip the majority of the server setup process by starting a listen server and using Hamachi or Zerotier to play together. If you need to port forward, forward the port 27666 UDP.

Hello everyone, while on my lunch break at work I decided to once again try to get librecoop to run on Android with no success. After looking at the logs it would appear that the .so file that I compiled for the Linux version is not being read which means the mod will have to be compiled again for Android. This also should produce a .so file (I'm not 100% sure tbh) that would be specifically for Android. I plan on looking into how to do this but if any of you are app devs and already know what to do please do so and release your work here. I also plan to post the raspberry pi version of the mod as well sometime in the future but I want to get the Android version working first.

I think the mod is open source on github. Maybe you can check there.

Getting "WARNING: couldn't load mod-specific librecoop.dylib, defaulting to base game's library!"

I saw a similar comment here, so I compiled it myself and got that error. Any thoughts?

I am on a Mac M1

I'm not too familiar with Apple devices but I will try to help. 1 of 2 things could have happened.

1st you could have placed the compiled file u made in the wrong location. It needs to be in the same folder as the dhewm3 executable.

or the file type u compiled it as is wrong. My guess is that on MacOS librecoop needs a .dylib instead of a .so (which is what linux uses)

also, did u retry to see if u could complete the boss fight? Ive been meaning to test if the entire expansion is playable all the way through but I just haven't had the time.

I believe the resurrection of evil version of the mod hasn't had a ton of testing. Did the crash occur during the cinematic? Or was it when the cinematic ends or begins? Or was it just during the boss fight in general? I'm mainly asking these questions because I'm guessing they would be useful to stradexengine once they decide to come back to this mod.
