GMDX V10 is a community made update for the GMDX mod. It features over 1400 new changes, in areas ranging from artistic direction to deepened function, and even bug fixing and attempts to reinforce adherence to canon. It's been built to have zero obligation (should a user not prefer it) by using a separate installation and save directory. Many save files are supported retroactively, although some hiccups do occur, as this was not a strictly intended feature. In our opinion, the game looks better, runs better, is balanced better. If you're looking for a way to facelift Vanilla or simply touch up GMDX, we think you'll enjoy what we bring to the table with v10. By the community, for the community.

You can check the changelog for any changes you have questions about. Don't be afraid to comment. We'll be happy to discuss any questions or suggestions you may have. We hope to enjoy, and hope to hear from you.

Sincerely, The Maintenance Men.

MessageLog:"A common issue with installation users report is the use of ALAudio audio device. This device cannot be removed from the bundle [despite its numerous issues] due to it pre-existing within the game's files. However Galaxy audio is being recommended as the selection going forward and its data was edited last update to make it picked less often.

This article details what issue ALAudio users may see and how to switch to Galaxy after first time setup has already been ran.

Common Issues May Include:
*Music modes not remembering the saved position and restarting ambient music needlessly.
*Audio lag, freezing, or artefacts.
*Potential crashes
*Bad lip syncing appearance

To fix this there are a few methods. The most reliable method however is to find your Deus Ex installation location. In your 'DeusEx' or 'Deus Ex' folder find the 'System' subfolder. After installation and first time setup a file called 'GMDXv10.ini' or 'GMDXv10' [configuration settings] may be present. Edit this in an application such as {notepad, wordpad, notepad++, etc} and open it. Find the '[Engine.Engine]' heading section. The second line from the top should begin with 'AudioDevice='. Make sure it reads: 'AudioDevice=Galaxy.GalaxyAudioSubsystem' and NOT 'AudioDevice=ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem. This should remedy the issue the next time the game is launched. Make sure the game is not running while making these changes. That is all.

Edit[1]: A more elegant method is to use the 'Preferences' console command in game. Type T and erase "say". Write "Preferences" and press enter. A popup will appear with various pulldowns and collapsible categories. Under the 'Drivers' tab find 'AudioDevice' and pick 'Galaxy 3D Audio for Windows' from the pulldown. Restart the game manually. This method is much more user friendly according to Unit's data.

I really prefer this mod over the RSD version of GMDX, but one thing I do miss from RSD, and that is the ability to use an Aug Upgrade to upgrade my built-in Light to level 2, making it brighter as well as using only half as much Bio-Electrical Energy. Deus Ex is a very dark game, even after fiddling around with the DirectX9 settings, and 95% of my Bio Energy usage goes to power my light. Why did you remove the upgrade option? - Peter34

MessageLog:"Interesting. It was proposed that the upgrade was redundant in light of newer rendering devices and seemed to be a bandaid solution for aging software. However Unit is unsure of when it was removed during the development process. Regardless it will be added to the to do list. It seems harmless enough and some more player choice is always good."

That is incredibly awesome!

I burn so many Cells just using the light, while using very little energy for my other Augs, and I'm also thinking about maybe recording gameplay for YouTube, once I get a new computer. From what I've read, YouTube videos are always somewhat darkened, relative to the original video seen by the person doing the recording, for some inavoidable technical reason, so that's another reason to re-implement that option. YouTubers need more light than is required for normal gameplay.

That said, using DirectX9 and switching the Preferences to that thing, that you find if you google "GMDX too dark" or something, and then setting Brightness to 70%, has helped somewhat. It's still dark enough that I use the light often, and it feels unrealistic to play in a future with no energi-efficient LEDs. -Peter34

I've been having a super frustrating issue in all of my recent games. On the Wall Cloud, the door to the helicopter landing pad at the end of that long, red corridor keeps automatically closing if I hack it open. I'll open it from the computer on the second floor, but by the time I walk to the door it will have closed. There might be an enemy who walks into it. I've gotten through by using a multitool to get in and out, but it seems like anyone who doesn't have enough multitools would be softlocked.

Just like other players I'm experiencing massive frame drops when flamethrowers, shotguns or plasma guns are fired, the game freezes for like a second every shot, it's borderline unplayable. I'm running the game on a modern gaming system, 16gb RAM and 8gb VRAM, so I doubt it'd be lack of memory. I already tried changing the audio driver to the Galaxy one, reinstalling, disabling both HDTP and New Vision, tried different renderers... Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

This is a common issue very specific to when users select OpenAL audio device. Please Check Edit[1] of the pinned article "Fixing AL Audio Issues" in the news section. It details how to change back to Galaxy as OpenAL is incomplete how it is presented in Deus Ex.

I already tried that as I said in my original post. I'm fairly certain it's not to do with the audio drivers because it happens regardless of me using Galaxy or OpenAL.

MessageLog:"Strange. The issue is not capable of being replicated otherwise. What you have described is exactly what users of AL Audio describe when sound playback occurs with AL Audio. All similar reportings have been traced back to this cause and resolved until now. This could possibly be a hardware compatibility issue of some sort causing something similar to what AL Audio produces in stutters or freezing. What type of compatibility issue is not easy to tell however. Unit is at a loss for solutions at this time. Sorry User."

Hello MMCleanerBot.

I would like to call your attention on a post made at GOG by an user who is saying the following:

"They messed up augs in v10.

By the time you first get the synthetic heart / power recirculator canister, you can already have all your torso slots used up, as I have (environmental resistance, energy shield, metabolic enhancement). This isn't possible in vanilla (unless you decide to install another aug from environmental resistance / aqualung aug but it is in the same room in the UC chamber together with the heart / recirculator canister so..)"

Could you perhaps tell us whether this claim has any merit?

Thanks a lot!

MessageLog:"This claim is true upon further inspection. Energy shield is paired with ballistic instead of EMP shield. It uses the torso slot still instead of the subdermal as an apparent oversight. This is subtle but certainly possible. Unit will add this issue to the list for the next update."

Played the first few levels, absolutely fantastic so far!

I love being able to finally not use HDTP.
