FX:Galaxy (commonly known as the FXmod) is a long-term modification project for the Homeworld series that aims to tell the story of the eight main races from the Homeworld universe in one game. Started back in 2006 for HW2:Classic, FX:Galaxy continues the legacy left behind by its predecessor while at the same time tapping into the new possibilities for Homeworld modding the remaster provided. Our goal is to restore the "Homeworld1 vibe" of the original 1999 game in the remaster, as well as to enhance & expand on the regular Homeworld experience while making sure the game still is "Homeworld". As of today (27/7/2015), we will only be uploading stable/tested releases to our ModDB and Steam pages. The reason for this is that we noticed that each time we update our mod it had new bugs in it, and some of them are very annoying. However, the Steam workshop forces every player to use the latest version of the mod, so people cannot use older, stable versions.
To this end we have decided to split the project into two types of releases: stable/tested releases, and beta/untested releases. The stable releases will be posted here and on our Steam Main page, while the beta releases will be posted on a separate Steam page. tl;dr - You'll see fewer updates here, but each release we do post will a) have more content & b) be stable with relatively few bugs, which in turn should lead to a more fun gameplay experience.
An ongoing project to clear some of the dust clouds the 8 races in the FXmod are shrouded in, and to reveal some of their playing styles.
After adding new content comes a moment to relapse, review and rebuild - and then start the process again.
