V 3.0: Lens flares & dirt, visor reflections / water droplets, god rays, depth of field, night & thermal vision scopes, dynamic wet surfaces with reflections, rainbows, volumetric light & fog, colored speculars and many other effects.
This shows a near-to-finished state of the reflective wet surfaces shader.
As you might see it's still a fake effect - but it's probably the best shader effect I ever made (so far)!
It looks excellent, I don't use the word lightly either it gives it a look you dont expect from this. It may be a fake but it's not a cheap crappy one.
Agree with everyone here... Looks really great, but how much FPS it will kill and why tractor is not visible on reflection?
Good questions, I missed the tractor one somehow. Now I'm wondering if it is missing for a specific reason such as not being recognized in some way. (That probally total rubbish and only makes sense in my own head).
I'm also wondering why this tractor is not visible since, as far as i know, it is static level geometry just like those buildings. Let's hope for the best. I'm sure Meltac will find solution.
Hey guys, thanks for your comments! As for FPS: Shouldn't be an issue on the vast majority of systems, didn't measure it so far but seems quite fast.
As for the missing tractor reflection: TBH I had expected that question ;-) It's the result of the low-level (but fast) fake reflection technique I'm using. No geometry-based ray tracing reflection here. So chances are very low that I'd ever manage to achieve something looking like real 3D reflection - might be disillusioning to some, but overall I still like the result. And it's much faster than ray-tracing, of course.
The tractor was missing - but the bus is there:
