Miserable Environment for CotZ turns the environment of Call of the Zone into a ruined parched world.
Miserable Environment for CotZ turns Call of the Zone into a ruined parched world.
Miserable Environment is a combination of :
- Call of Misery levels and ground textures
Moddb.com
- MISERY skies and weather/atmosphere
Moddb.com
This addon does not touch the economy or gameplay and does not add any item/features, it is only the environment that is modified (like a "what if i played Misery but with Call of the Zone gameplay").
This way it should be compatible with all other addons

Call of Misery Team
IMPORTANT : if you are using a weapon pack, delete the folder named "wpn" that is located in
\gamedata\textures\
Then reinstall your weapon pack so it will only use the textures that comes with your weapon pack, so it does not mix strangely with the misery weapons textures that are part of this Miserable Environment addon
----
NOTE
----
The misery and call of misery textures have been optimised for more performance (rescaled down, mipmaps added when it was lacking, correct compressions)
--------------
HOW TO INSTALL
--------------
Move the "gamedata" folder into your
...\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of The Zone\
Then
- Launch STALKER : Call of the Zone
- Go to Options -> Video , change the "Quality settings" from "Medium" to "High" (or any of the settings that is not your default) and press APPLY
- Go to Options -> Game , press APPLY
- Go to Options -> Video , change the "Quality settings" from "High" to "Medium" (or what is your default setting) and press APPLY
- Exit to Window , then relaunch STALKER : Call of the Zone
This is to make sure the change the tonemap/lumscale/dof/and other settings are really corresponding to this addon.
It's required to really benefit from the atmosphere as it is meant to be.
-----------
RECOMMENDED
-----------
It is very recommended to add on top of this addon the Colder Atmosphere for CotZ to benefit from its weather system and reshaded preset
This to obtain a more brumous and cold atmosphere than what the misery weather does with this addon.

That aren't part of the other addons.
I really enjoy the new atmosphere in the skies and textures, it can be a bit brown at times but I think it fits a lot of the scenery. Really enjoying it.
Only thing I don't like is the weapon textures. Some of the weapons like the AN94 Abakan were given these rustic looking textures that look really out of place. I am using the CoTZ Weapon Pack if that matters.
I have a friend who prefers these rustic weapons but I'd prefer them as an optional part of the mod. From what I've seen only certain weapons have these textures; the standard AK47 is normal for example. Very strange.
If the weapons had their textures change based on their condition I think that'd make more sense personally.
Either way it's still a great mod and I appreciate the work you've done on it!
The misery weapon textures are only affecting the original CotZ weapons, as you're using a weapon pack the resulting mix is certainly looking odd.
Fortunately you can fix the problem you encounter between your weapon pack and the miserable envinroment addon easily by deleting the folder named "wpn" that is located in
\gamedata\textures\
Then reinstall your weapon pack after that, this way your weapon pack will only use the textures that comes with it.
I'll add that in the description.
I reinstalled the weapon pack and that overwrote the weapon files from this mod.
I figured it was my error but I appreciate you helping with it.
Thanks again for your work on this!
