Call of The Zone is a standalone modification for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. – Call of Pripyat that allows you to explore the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone – a desolate and highly contaminated region of Ukraine that has been abandoned and closed off for decades ever since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. What has been going on in this irradiated wasteland since then? There are no shortage of rumors and conspiracy theories, each more fantastic than the last. Rumors of mutated wildlife, brainwashed cults, secret experiments, and unexplainable paranormal events abound, as do promises of great riches and wildest dreams coming true for those who are daring or desperate enough to try to break through the cordon. You are about to find out for yourself what is true and what is yet undiscovered, and experience for yourself all the Zone has to offer... or to take from you.
Call of The Zone modification that uses map levels and textures from the Anomaly mod combined with a select few addon ports. Click read more for details.
I made a few errors when editing the Smurth LilGABE hybrid CoTZ addon. I'm currently rezipping and soon to be reuploading but until then, whoever downloads this addon will also have to download that addon as well and extract and use all the files from the Main files - required folder. Apologies.
Wow! I'm looking forward to this...
Hopefully it will enhance your experience with CoTZ with minimum issues.
This is a good mod. It's obvious that a lot of effort has been put into it. Thanks a lot!
Most of the work was done by other people and I simply merged them into one pack. The only real credit I can take is the ReShade Preset. It took me a decent amount of time to find a combination of shaders I was happy with that gave the game a more sharp, crisp, and distinct look. You can also use the preset with any Stalker mod to give it a more defined look.
The addon has been updated.
Gorgeous. Wish I could run this setup. :D
Yeah, unfortunately not a lot of ways to increase how the game looks without impacting performance. At least not with the 32 bit engine. You could try to run it with lower graphical settings and without using the ReShade preset.
Could i add more addons to this? Like AO3, Wepl's hit effects, or addon packs, in the same vain az Mahzra's pack or E.A.P?
Depends on the addons. Most of what I added was only graphical stuff other than:
Death Animations
Smurth LilGABE Hybrid CoTZ
SRAP2 for Call of The Zone
Smurth LilGABE Hybrid for CoTZ is the one that changes the most things, the rest being either graphical or some animations.
You can add my pack to this if you follow these steps. Assuming you already have CotZ 1.2 with CotZ+ installed. Requires unpacking the AO3 .db files, more information about that here:
Moddb.com
Download my pack, extract it into an empty folder. Don't put it in CotZ yet.
In the database\addons folder of my pack, you will find a bunch of .db files. You need to unpack all of these. Follow the link above for assistance with this. You can unpack all of them in one step. It's pretty straightforward, but it'll take a while.
Copy the unpacked folders into your CotZ+ gamedata folder.
Copy the gamedata folder and batch file from my pack into your CotZ+ root folder.
Start a new game.
You'll lose CotZ+' weapon pack and THAP as they will be replaced with my AO3 alternatives. Everything else seems to work fine, actually. Tested a few things like eating animations and such, no issues. My pack includes an updated version of Smurth LilGABE Hybrid, so that's a fortunate overlap between my pack and ][]['s :)
The one thing that might pop up later down the line is that my pack may overwrite NPC config files needed for the HD models, so you may need to reinstall the HD models patch after you install my pack. Not sure, didn't check. If the game crashes with an error related to an outfit, that's the cause.
Imgur.com
It's a tad heavy on the resources. 32GB after installation, by the way. Chunky.
If anyone does this, please report back on stability and performance. This is pretty much the ultimate stress-test for the engine. I don't think you can push it much further than this, especially on high population settings.
Challange accepted.
Edit Raz: I did it, but it crashed for me on when i tried to enter into a New Game. The crash log read this:
FATAL ERROR
[error]Expression : D3DX11CreateTextureFromMemory ( HW.pDevice,S->pointer(),S->length(), &LoadInfo;, 0, &pTexture2D;, 0 )
[error]Function : CRender::texture_load
[error]File : ..\xrRenderDX10\dx10Texture.cpp
[error]Line : 525
[error]Description : Ran out of memory
[error]Arguments : c:\gemey12\cotz\gamedata\textures\act\act_face_holod_bump.dds
stack trace:
This, as far as i know, is caused because i set the textures high. I will try again on a different renderer.
Edit Dva: I changed the renderer from DirectX11 to 9. It launched me into game, so DX9 works. Shall try the other ones.
Edit Tri: Okay, i edited the graphical settings on DirectX9. It crashes if i set it too high. I forgot to take logs for this one, but it had a "cannot process this command" argument, if i remember correctly.
Edit Chetirye: There was an interesting CTD when i tried to put a weapon in my weapon slot:
FATAL ERROR
[error]Expression : 0
[error]Function : CUICellContainer::FindFreeCell
[error]File : ui\UIDragDropListEx.cpp
[error]Line : 717
[error]Description : there are no free room to place item
stack trace:
I think that's all for now. These are the settings i used:
Paste.pics
Paste.pics
Everything else that isn't in the screenshot was set to max.
Hahaha holy ****, it's awesome that you did this! :D
"[error]Description : there are no free room to place item" is also a memory related error, it happens occasionally for me too even without CotZ+. Another fun one I've seen is when the virtual filesystem runs out of space. I swear there are like 10 different ways to run out of memory in this game. You're well on your way to catching 'em all.
Observation: 111 FOV? Really? :D Please tell me you're using crazy ironsights zoom settings or something.
EDIT:
"No Mahzra, the game would also run out of memory if I set the FOV too high. I wanted to max it out. Caught another one!"
EDIT2:
Let me know if you want me to make a 111 FOV version of zoomed or unzoomed ironsights. That's so much higher than what my settings are meant for that right-clicking must give you whiplash.
EDIT3:
111 FOV? Really though?
:-D I only set it to that because i didn't care, i just tested the game, so i had no intention to set the FOV to my preferences.
I usually play at 130 FOV.
Jeeeez. Well, if you're interested in playing my pack, let me know if you want a custom AO3 weapon set for your FOV.
I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
I have encountered another crash. Probably another "out of memory" one, but i am not sure. Guess i Gotta contain em' allTM.

So, after this, in conclusion whoever is curious about this merge:
It looks stable, everything is merged very nicely. But it is a bit of a reliability. Maybe a 64 bit engine could fix most of these, but as far as it goes, i suggest playing this merge on DirectX9, with the sliders not fully maxed out. Especially the Anti-Aliasing.
If someone want's this, i am uploading the data (bin, gamedata and database, with it's respective fsgame.ltx and batch file) to Mega.nz to download here. It may be a hunky chunky at 15,28GB, but if you are willing to give it a go, 'yer welcome. Maybe even possibly fix this yourself, for all of us.
I don't know where you should report the errors if it pops up, since i definetly don't understand these crash reports, and i don't know how willing the others are for hearing feedback. I would love to help, but i am a simple stalker, and there is no way i could fix those crasches.
Link coming soon here:
Good man.
Anyone experiencing problems is free to send me a message here on ModDB or post in the comments for Mahzra's Package. Please remember to mention you run it on CoTZ+ though.
I can't promise I'll be able to fix any problem, but I can usually tell if something is a memory error because I get them a lot. If it's not, it's probably due to something in my pack, anyway.
EDIT:
Getting feedback on ModDB is like drawing blood from a stone.
How'd you like my contributions to this behemoth? :D I'm talking about the AO3 integration and the gunplay and such.
12 hours of play later, I have a couple little complaints, but I'm still really happy with the Mahzra/CotZ+ mashup overall! If only I could get the Radiation Overhaul to work without turning the Great Swamp into a minefield of crashes that will to drop you from the sky into a full-on freeze whenever you step into irradiated water.
Other than that, my only other personal tweaks are to reduce knife damage down to like, 1/2 or 1/3 of the current settings (with this damage, even bloodseekers aren't scary anymore) and to return everybody to their default movement speeds. (Look, I liked the Tarkovsky movie! I like me a slow, human Stalker!) But I think I can edit the files down myself. Thanks for putting this together Mahz/original uploader!
You are very welcome, I'm glad you're having fun!
Just got the whole thing set up and it's running on maximum settings with DX10, with the textures just one tic shy of fully boosted. Looking good all around :)
Hey librarian looks like papa smurf, there's some broken textures.
Install my Anomaly HD Models patched addon, that should unsmurf him.
Just found my first real bug from the combination of mods, and it's that in the Truck Cemetery, the textures of the fog (or maybe the sun rays?) are broken, and giant triangular chunks of texture interrupt your vision every few meters or so. Not the end of the world, since it's just one area, but wanted to mention it.
I've also found an error, in Dead city the floor is completely untextured. just grey sheets, and some of it is transparent (you can see the underground tunnels through the floor. running around occasionally causes other random untextured artifacting. otherwise this looks INCREDIBLE
I made a guest post from my work computer, but I can take a picture that shows the issue clearly, though I don't think I can attach it on here. the grass itself is rendering, just not the texture itself on the grassy parts of the ground in dead-city. the concrete and floors render just fine. so far i haven't seen this problem in other areas.
I have seen the same sort of problem appear in the Truck Cemetery and the Dark Valley. Seems like some texture opacity might be off.
I had the same problem as you - the ground wasn't rendering although the objects were (trees, grass, trucks). And I think I found a workaround.
1. Download Anomaly 1.5.1
2. Download Github.com
3. Use the tool from step #2 to unpack files.db0 in Anomaly's db folder
4. Copy paste two files from the upacked files.db0 (shaders.xr and shaders_xrlc.xr) to CoTZ gamedata folder.
This fixed the Truck Cemetery issue for me. Haven't checked Dark Valley or Dead City, so can't comment too much there.
Did this turn out to resolve the issue in Dark Valley and Dead City as well?
Sorry, wasn't logged in when I replied (ignore the Guest). But yes, Dark Valley and Dead City works.
Textures missing on Dead City and Truck Cemetary as also pointed out by other stalkers above... Playing CotZ+/Mahra combo which is amazeballs otherwise.
EDIT : Even Darkscape is f'd. It seems all areas not in the vanilla trilogy are f'd - Dead City,Darkscape and Truck Cemetary.
Mediafire.com
Download and extract into your CotZ folder. I checked Dead City and Truck Cemetery, which appear to have been fixed.
Excelent fix bro. Thank you.
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the geiger sounds that correspond with the rain/storms? I think they're obnoxious. TIA
Edit: Okay, they're aren't related to rain/storms. I guess they're random ambient noises? Not sure.
I'm also looking for help with turning on the minimap.
Sorry for late responses as I was without a PC for a while and lost all of my work. For anyone having texture issues, try deleting the shader folder. I believe that is what is causing the problems. If not then I'm not sure. Honestly though I'll probably just have to restart the mod at some point.
Does this add-on focus solely on cosmetics from Anomaly or does some of what Anomaly has, specially the Warfare Mod and inventory management improvements? And will these files be separate based on original Mod or are they all already merged together for a blanket install?
All the merges are found in the description but as a recap:
Anomaly 1.5.1 (Levels)
Anomaly HD Models Addon
Anomaly HD Models for CotZ
Death Animations
Smurth LilGABE Hybrid CoTZ
SRAP2 for Call of The Zone
T.H.A.P STCOC 1.5 R6-7 Pack
It's an incredibly big download. Direct downloading from ModDB servers has always been unreliable for me. Could you possibly make a torrent to download. I've failed to download this 3 times now. Which is incredibly frustrating.
Imgur.com
Might've borked the sun with some apparently minor addons, this is what ~2 pm (~14:00) looks like in the marshes (just added the optional folders that the Smurth HUD comes with [pretty much why I have a mini map], one to make the screens on the Veles and Savrog NVG friendly, and a green to red artifact color changer for those detectors).
So installing/reinstalling the STWC port fixed my particular issue.
Now I'm getting a CTD going to Darkscape every time I use my autosave or the save before the transition, tried using the "-noprefetch" command, made changes to the grass density )r__detail_density and r__detail_radius, to hopefully get the grass density and radius down (I don't normally play Stalker with grass enabled anyways)).

Found this in my xray_[user].log file
Looks like the grass shader isn't installed, or not reading correctly.
Redownloaded this file, it still doesn't have a darkscape folder in the "gamedata/levels" folder (not sure where else to look).
Got this from the log file after a ctd while starting a new merc character:

Deciding to delete it all, and start a new game with just "vanilla" with AO3, HD models, and Smurth hud; and probably a few others. No idea why my particular install keeps flipping out and CTD'ing over missing grass shaders.
UPDATE: GRASS SHADER BUG FIXED.
Thanks very much to zer0flavor, who was sweet enough (HAH GOTCHA) to share how to resolve the issue.
