DCI: Last Alliance Public Beta Requirements:

'DCI:Last Alliance Public Beta' requires the 'Medieval II Total War Kingdoms Expansion' and the mod 'Third Age Total War 3.2'. A fresh working installation of 'Third Age Total War 3.2' is strongly recommended.

DCI Last Alliance installer instructions:

1. Download the files below:

DCI: Last Alliance Public Beta Part 1of2 Download
DCI: Last Alliance Public Beta Part 2of2 Download

DCI: Last Alliance Patch Download

2. DCI_LA_BETA_Part1of2.exe and DCI_LA_BETA_Part2of2.exe have to be installed into the default installation path: "...\SEGA\Medieval II Total War"
or "...Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War" for Steam users. (If you have installed Medieval II into another folder, please check if the installation path is correct.)
The installation process will overwrite your TATW files, meaning that you will not be able to play TATW.

3. At the end of the installation for DCI_LA_BETA_Part2of2.exe a cleaner will delete files that need to be auto-generated at game launch, you'll be prompted to 'press any key to continue...'

4. After exiting the installer, a launcher for 'DCI: Last Alliance' will be created and added as a shortcut to your desktop, you will be prompted to 'press any key to continue...'

5. Double click the DCI_LA_BETA_PATCH.exe file and follow the instructions

6. Once both parts and the patch are installed, double click the 'DCI Last Alliance' icon on your desktop to launch the mod. Alternatively double click the DCILA.bat file in your mod folder.
(DCILA_NoBaiSwitcher.bat will run DCI:LA without the battle AI switcher)

Optional: delete the Third Age Total War shortcut from your desktop

DCI Last Alliance manual installation instructions:

1. Download the files below

DCI: Last Alliance Public Beta 7zip Download

DCI: Last Alliance Patch 7zip Download

2. Extract/unzip the downloaded DCI_LA_BETA.7z file into your '...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3' folder. Accept overwrite and/or merge folders when requested.
This process will overwrite your TATW files, meaning that you will not be able to play TATW.

3. Extract/unzip the downloaded DCI_LA_BETA_PATCH.7z file into your '...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3' folder. Accept overwrite and/or merge folders when requested.

4. Run DcilaCleaner.bat - located in '...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3' folder. This is absolutely necessary.

5. Run CreateLauncher.bat - located in '...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3\dcilaOtherFiles' folder.
This creates a shortcut on your desktop, creates DCILA.bat and DCILA_NoBaiSwitcher.bat, and deletes Third_Age.bat.

6. Launch the mod by double clicking the 'DCI Last Alliance' icon on your desktop or the DCILA.bat file (DCILA_NoBaiSwitcher.bat will run DCI:LA without the battle AI switcher)

Optional: delete the Third Age Total War shortcut from your desktop

Heroes

prominent generals

Tôl Acharn and DCI mechanics:

The "Tôl Acharn" is a 'counter invasion', the M2 Jihad-feature renamed; just as TATW has the "Invasion" for the evil factions, which in turn is the Crusade-feature renamed .
Factions with the culture 'Hosts of the West' [religion islam] can join the Tôl Acharns at will.
The unique DCI mechanics allow factions of other cultures [religions] to temporarily join the Tôl Acharn, if allied to the calling faction of the 'counter invasion'.

Main Features:

  • Third Age campaign map adapted to Last Alliance era * Video *
  • New battle map settlements * Part1 * Part2 * Part3 * Part4 *
  • New UI (interface, menu, loading screens, units cards) * Preview faction symbols *
  • Extensive and entirely new rosters and unit models
  • All new unit stats, prices and recruitment system (Fleet units here)
  • Custom prominent generals on the battlefield (Elendil, Elrond, Galadriel)
  • New buildings
  • New and extensive mechanics for the One Ring if wrested from the hand of Sauron * Video *
  • Useful palantirs, now without drawbacks, and Galadriel's Mirror * Video *
  • New scripts (Immortal Nazgûl, Tôl Acharn)
  • Extensive AoR system for the Númenórean Kingdoms
  • Corruption-balancing for the Númenórean Kingdoms, the Kingdom of Khazad-dûm and the Kingdom of Lindon
  • Ample lore credibility * Background overlook *

Faction Leaders

Playable Factions:

League members that can call and join the Tôl Acharn

Non-League members (can join the Tôl Acharn if player)

Sauron's followers (can call Invasions)

Invasion, Tôl Acharn or neither depending on player choice (Oathbreaker, Oathkeeper or Neutral)

Trailers:

Additional Notes

  • DcilaReference.pdf located inside your third_age_3 folder has a more information on in-game shortcuts and faction features.
  • Creatures such as wolves, spiders and ents no longer cause crashes. Unfortunately Balrogs might still cause the occasional crash, the Balrog will be completely redesigned for full release so it will no longer be an issue. Creatures are very powerful units so if you would like you can still disable them with the CTRL+X shortcut.
  • Tol Acharns called on Barad Dur might cause turn times to be much longer. The Tol Acharn can be cancelled by using the shortcut SHIFT+J.
  • Moving the camera in the campaign map with a general selected will cause the camera to lag, deselect the general for smooth camera movement.
  • Detailed crash reports such as units present during a battle and save-game files might help the team identify and fix problems.

Thank you for playing our mod. If you've enjoyed the mod so far please leave a review, we appreciate it.

Been playing for a few hours now, and while it needs a little more spit and polish, it's a very stable build that's very enjoyable to play.

I will try to help testing(linux) and reporting.

I have a question! Is possible to create "subfactions" like Rhun to Rhovanion, or make a system of allegiances for both, like first to take a settlement get the subfaction and his troops?

I'm sure it's possible with some clever modding, but it's not something we're looking to implement. That said, some factions get special units/generals if they align with certain factions/fulfill certain conditions. For example: Rhovanion can get access to a special elven unit, and the hill men of the north can get access to boldogs. To get the best out of a faction you can check the faction videos/previews for an overview of all the features.

Thanks Louis!
DCI works well on linux(wine+steam), but whats is the purpose of "cscript //nologo G5BAISwitcher.vbs", can we just use "--features.mod=mods/Third_Age_3" on steam and forget about G5BAISwitcher.vbs?
Can I upload a zip of TATW+DCI to my account on moddb?

The Battle AI switcher is a feature from Germanicu5' AI that is used in DCI. If you don't want to play with this feature you can do so and there is even a DCILA_NoBaiSwitcher.bat file specifically for that purpose. If you're interested you can read more about the G5BAI on Twcenter.net. Can't give permission concerning TATW because it's not our mod. What we might be able to do is upload a zip version of TATW and add the link to DCI's installation instructions.

Suggestions:
1 Make a "no garrison script" patch file, for those who want.
2 Eliminate the crossings of Gwathló river south of Tharbad.
