Galadriel

As foretold we follow up the Lothlórien video with a Galadriel preview.
The Noldor royal lady, spouse of the Sindar prince Celeborn, support Lothlórien and can severly penalize any hostile general attacking the forest.
With this video we for the first time present a brand new battlefield model, created by Luis Lux/Van_louis.

The phial is made by Kahvipannu. 3D models for hands and feet are by Musculus Maximus.
The bodyguard are retextured by Arioria of mithlond, based on the Eldarinwë Archers from TATW, made by Louis Lux/Van_louis.

Biography: Galadriel, or Artanis as she was named by her father Finarfin, kinswoman to Gil-galad, is the last remaining of the leaders who lead the Noldor into Exile and to Middle-earth, where they fought the long defeat against Morgoth and his servants.
No oaths she swore, but she yearned to see the wide unguarded lands and to rule there a realm at her own will.

In Middle-earth she met and wedded Celeborn, kinsman of high king Thingol of Doriath, and learned much from his queen Melian the Maia. She was close to her brother Finrod Felagund of Nargothrond, who fought Sauron valiantly in a duel of magic, but was killed in his dungeons.

In the Second Age she and Celeborn settled in Eriador as lords, south of Lake Evendim. First not known in name, when Sauron returned she made it her quest to oppose the surviving evil, but she could not affect the affairs of Eregion where Celebrimbor and his smiths created the Rings of Power and were deceived by Sauron in his then fair-looking hue.

Celebrimbor entrusted her with one of the Three Rings, Nenya, ere Eregion fell in 1697, but the Ring of Adamant may not be used as long as Sauron has the One, and he desire it greatly.
Few individuals the Dark Lord fear, but this the perhaps greatest of all Noldor is one of them, yes perhaps could she even wield the One Ring if it came into her possession...?

She and her husband have been concerned about Lothórien's situation troughout the Age. In that land, close to Mordor, Sindar princes rule over Silvan Elves, and also some Noldor, refugees led by Galadriel there after Eregion fell.

The ever designing couple recently returned, after time spent in Lindon, Edhellond and Imladris, when Mount Doom once again erupt. Offering her services as councellor to king Amdír, as Celeborn his aid, she is a wise overseer, able to divine what occurs in the world trough her mirror, and stand up in the defence.
Clad by surviving smiths of Eregion in their best armour, fitting a, and in tradition of, Noldor royalty. Armed with a staff and phial she encourage her forces, and put terror in the hearts of the enemy.

That's a pretty awesome armor Galadriel got there!
I never seen her in any armor before or holding a weapon.

I'm the first to second that notion, per usual very impressed by the craftmanship of Luis Lux/Van_louis :)
No, that's not common, though it was in a concept from Weta for The Hobbit as well: I.pinimg.com

Which is fitting, to be frank. She's not foolish, a stray arrow could end her just as anyone else for example; nor can we imagine her companions let their friend and lady risk enter battle without proper outfit.
Furthermore, despite the common perception Elven women never fought, thet did in fact join battle, in defence and at need. And we know for example that Galadriel's cousin Aredhel was an experienced hunter.
Galadriel is the only Elven woman we have a description of once joining battle in person, and its resonable to assume she participated in the conquest of Dol Guldur.

I must say that she's looking even better than she did in the movies. Peter Jackson has nothing on this outfit for Galadriel. She looks to me like a true forest lady now.

Well done DCI Team!

The only change I might suggest is giving her a Noldor blade from Gondolin somewhere on her being, holstered within an ornate sheath or something that she draws out when the enemy closes in as a secondaryactive weapon. :-)

Thanks mate; will make Luis Lux/Van_louis glad to hear I'm sure ^^

The previous model had a sword in the style of Sting, but we chose to give her a staff instead. Not being a dedicated warrior, while a magic wielder, we concluded it a fitting weapon.
Could general models utilize secondary wepons that would been a delightful solution though.

Although I have yet to test the theory myself, I am fairly sure they can considering that secondary weapons (though not stats) are mostly tied to the comments of the model, as well as the animation set assigned to the general's model in Battlemodels.

Might also depend on whether or not their bodyguard unit has a secondary weapon. I'll let you or Louis Lux know if I try it out and it's successful.

In any case, a staff can be just as powerful in melee, especially when the power of Elbereth's light guides it :-)

Would be the first example of that, do you succeed, so best wishes.

Certainly, a staff after all provided us the mightiest strokes in the LotR films ;D

I chose the staff for conceptual and design reasons. Conceptually I envisioned Galadriel as a more defensive character rather than an offensive one and the staff fit better with the design and look I gave her. I wouldn't be opposed to giving her a sheathed sword but I think it would disrupt her elegant design with the addition of a belt. As far as I know the things you can do with a general are very limited so I don't think a secondary weapon is doable.

That makes sense coupled with her personality and nature, and the fact that she is sort of at a higher level of magical power compared to other Elves, especially with Nenya.

I can't wait to see what you'll conjure up next Mr.Louis. Keep up the great work!

With my hero work and especially the boldogs I try to push what can be done with the medieval engine as far as possible so I appreciate the recognition. What the medieval engine lacks in realism I try to make-up with design and craftsmanship.

The design about Galadriel with armor & weapon it's really stunning, but this concept was abandoned bc she's someone relying basically on magic/willpower, like the Wizards & not a melee warrior with heavy armour, so, i guess that you have chosen a warrior maiden version of her for your submod, congrats anyways by the model.

PS: Some Galadriel's tunics probably were made of elven chaimail, which is most appropriate for spellcasters like her.
