I know there are already a few "realism" mods for this game, but I have always been dissatisfied with the result. Now I'm really new at this so please, be nice. In this mod I plan to bring at least space combat to as canon of a level as possible. This means lasers, torpedos, missiles, basically all projectiles in general will be much faster, longer ranged, and more accurate. Ships will no longer sit pounding at one another for ten minutes before one finally cracks, and fighters and bombers will now play a more decisive role in combat. Basically all I want to do in this mod is to step the pace of the game up a little, and capture a little more of the movie action and a little less of the slow-motion-for-the-sake-of-balance-action.
Well, as much as I'd like to tell you that I've been busy this summer doing something important, I haven't. I've been lazy, and have been spending some time with the older games like Starcraft and AoE2 instead of modding. This will change soon as I start again on fixing the bugs that have been reported by the beta-testers. All this means is that the newest version of the mod will soon be released, so don't worry about the mod being dead or anything.
Anyways that's all for now, so you guys take care.
Regards,
p*a*t*t*o*n
This is just a little blurb for all of you who have volunteered to be beta testers for the latest version of the mod.

anyone knows how to increase shields for spacestations and health on all space units? battles are a bit too short for my taste
You need to look at the specific XML files for units. Inside the file(s), which can be in multiple files, or just one. Actually, there is a really good YouTube series for modding EaW that would help you with this. Just watch the first few episodes. Link: Youtu.be I linked a good time in the video that should help you. Other Empire at War Modding 101 videos are worth a look as well, if you want to get more in-depth.
thanks! i´ll check them

Finally tried this mod, the only problem so far is the oversized turbolaser tower ranges. Fett and half of the Stormtroopers deployed from Veers' AT-ATs were killed. It's a bad thing when I'm already tempted to make an adjustment in the first 8 minutes of the mod.
