Black Orchestra features battles from 1937 up until 1954. Experience a new Red Orchestra, Rising Storm, Heroes of The West, and new theatres such as the North African front. Bringing back that hardcore feeling from the Red Orchestra series, this mod will build on the game's accessible realism to create the ultimate version of all those games combined, as well as delivering new content to make things fresh for returning players.
The initial release will feature the Eastern, Western, Mediterranean and Pacific theatres of war with factions such as Germany, USSR, United Kingdom, United States, Italy and Japan. Due to how the mod will be built on Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, players will not only have all weapons unlocked from the start but also many historically accurate customization options.

All maps set in the Mediterranean theatre of war including several Eastern, Western and Pacific front maps are produced by Level Artist/Level Designer North_Dumpling with additional asset assistance from FaNgum.
While our maps are based on historical battles they take place in, it is not always a smart decision to portray locations in their 1:1 scale as gameplay always comes first for us, so certain liberties are made.
Each and every map always requires thoughtful design process starting with blockout and finishing with visual polishing.
Our maps are always made based on specific metrics we have set ourselves such as visuals, geomorphology, location, factions involved and weapons/vehicles used by the teams.
Everything you see currently is WIP and subject to change.

New maps are powered by the Unreal Engine 3 technology in conjunction with Quixel Megascans bringing them to life even further ranging from whole new custom shaders to photoscanned trees and terrain assets.
Every new or updated existing RO2/RS1/HotW map is brought to more modern standards thanks to this new technology and allows to deliver unique looking locations based on their real life counterpart and geomorphology aspect.
Quixel Megascans technology in particular allows us to utilize photogrammetry assets similar to what DICE used in Battlefront 2015 by using 512x512 texture with majority of details coming from detail normal map texture which allows us to have much more memory in reserve as well as boost visual quality of assets without increase in filesize!

Will this mod be available on the steam workshop upon release?
We are trying to get more accessible release as part of the game since workshop release isn't good enough for the mod this size.
