As pictured, the best usage of F-35 is perhaps to use stand-off weapons like the JASSM with a range of 370km.
However, this gives rise to the question that if the non-stealth, cheaper F-16s can also launch the long range missiles beyond the enemy's air defense, with the only more needed: the target location information from other aircraft/satellite.

Description

(The model is based on Mig Eater's F-35)(Continues)The lesser turning capability means lesser maneuverability to counter other fighters in a turning fight, and a lesser chance of evading locked-on missiles, especially IR image guided ones, which is significantly harder to be jammed by flares, as it uses image as guidance. Then, the only protection of the fighter locked on would either be Directed Infrared counter measure (DIRCM), a small laser designed to blind the image sensor of the missile, or high G maneuvers to defeat the missile's flight control system or computer. Lacking maneuverability would present significant penalty in air combat, as the F-35 pilot is forced fire Beyond visual air-to-air missiles at range to counter opposing air assault, at far lower kill-probability than short range IR missiles. However, the lacking in maneuverability is not the only weakness of the fighter in the realm of air combat: the fighter is also too thick to follow the Area rule, which states the cross section area of a super sonic fighter should be constant throughout the length to reduce super sonic drag. As the F-35 is designed with both stealth and vertical take off in mind, the aircraft must accommodate both the lift fan, large internal tank and weapon bay inside, the aircraft's cross section is significantly larger than that of fighter of similar role, see the slim F-16. And the thicker air frame would generate an array of complications, including higher drag, lower range as a result of the drag, and a slower top speed, slower acceleration. The slower top speed would limit its missile firing range compared to other fighters with a same missile, and the slower acceleration means its slower to escape a fight it would not want to join. All this means the best use of the F-35 is not to perform air combat as it was not designed for, but to use its modern electronics to attack ground targets at range, as the fighter excels in avionics with its EOTS, DAS, and AESA radar.
