I use steam exclusively, with the only exceptions being games that don't release on it that I NEED, such as upcoming blizzard games. But generally, if a game I'm interested in doesn't come on steam, then I am nolonger interested.

100% steam. Except blizzard games I guess.
I like the GUI, and I love the mod support, but I'm sick of the different Digital Distribution programs and accounts. One thing I loved about the idea is that I would be able to just log into one account, and have a nice way to launch games. But now that there's so many, it's an even bigger hassle as I have to log into the right thing, etc. So right now I'm only using steam and don't bother with non-steam games (unless it's something really big). So my vote goes to "not interested". But best of luck with it.
Now that I've done it and got it working, are you still planning on released more parts? I know it takes work, but you said you planned for a week and it's a month later. I'm having a helluva time learning how to really get started.. All I can find are articles like this that overview the basic codes and give a basic idea, but nothing more advanced. That and people offering to tell you how for cash. So yeah, are you planning on releasing more? or does anyone have a good site I can check out that's on this tutorials level of knowledge, to learn the next steps? Thanks
edit: ignore me, missed a step :P thanks for this
Ugh, playing this game for free this weekend and it's so fun, but I have to wait a week to pay off my credit card to buy it.. missing the 25% off :( oh well
Yeah, I found the issue. The directory just wasn't created yet because I had no replays or profiles or anything. Sorry for the spam
No such luck. Where are we supposed to install the mod if we have Vista?
Oh, my mistake. I forgot I had I reinstalled C&C 3 when I mixed up my friends CDKey with my disk, and I forgot to update. I assume this will make a folder in Documents.
I have Vista so the folders are a bit different, but under Documents there's Command and Conquer 3: Kanes Wrath. No Tiberium Wars. can I make the Mods folder inside that folder and install there? Or do I need to install somewhere else
This mod is awesome, but I can only play singleplayer. I found NO servers online, not even empty ones. Is it just my internet..? I'd really like to play this with bots that are a bit smarter than to get in a vehicle then drive straight into a rock for the duration of the map. Lol.
Stop teasing us!
actually.. don't stop :P
I'm also having the chapter name problem.. I copied a hl2_english.txt from another mod and reedited it (since valve doesn't make one anymore), and I can NOT get it to work. I looked over every single detail - it's perfect. I even tried completely renaming every part of my mod. It started as No Hope, then No_Hope, then nohope and nh. Doesn't work. I checked the spelling, I checked every file, every link, every space (or lack of one), everything, over and over. Simply can't get it to work. I'm tempted to believe they changed the method since they don't make this file anymore, yet the other mod I compared to works fine this way..
ugh!
Project ADD here as well. I come up with an idea I think is awesome, start working on it, but eventually just.. stop. I wish I would stop doing that
The skybox is very likely a placeholder until their artists make some of their own. I'm pretty sure this is a UT3 one.
That said it looks fine to me, but either way :P
This looks cool. Downloading and checking it out.
Awesome.
Can't wait for more details and the ultimate release.
Grats on 3rd place in the top released mods of the year. I personally thought you deserved one, but still, Empires has come quite a long way.
I still hope you get a really good job with a good developer and release the next hit, Krenzo.
Not to be a sore thumb, but with EA working on a new C&C FPS, isn't it likely you guys will get shut down?
Maybe I'm just stupid, but you completely lost me at "Writing the Mutator". You don't mention what files we're editing (you just say "find the file and open it. What file?) and where we're putting the new lines of code. Perhaps clearing that up a little would help?
Hey. I saw your review of Empires 1.0 (I think). You said you'd be willing to do another of it in the future and I'm wondering if you could.. Today they just released 2.0 which fixes EVERYTHING you critisized. The team has worked amazingly hard and the game now runs amazingly - I just played on a server with 40 people - it was full - where everyone had tanks, there was huge bases, and it ran as smoothe as could be. It's also much better gameplay wise. The animations are far better. The gunplay is more fun. The re's a squad system. Everything from Half-life 2 - textures, sounds, effects - is gone and replaced with new ones (honestly, if I hear that explosion noise or see that grass texture one more time, I'm going to go nuts).
Anyway, it's way, WAAAY better, and a very serious contendor for Mod of the Year (if it's eligable? I'm not sure on the regulations) and I believe it deserves another review.
A mix of 1 and 2. People will always think "hey you know what would be REALLY cool?" and perhaps have a good idea, but quickly become overwhelmed as they've never worked on a mod before.
To anyone browsing after seeing the latest info on 2.0, I seriously, SERIOUSLY recommend getting it when it comes out.
I've been an empires player since 1.0. Back then, the mod had tons of problems with lag, and if you're one of the people who stopped playing because of that, rest assured those problems don't exist anymore. I'd get into a big rant about how it was a beta, but Krenzo explained this in the interview.
Rather, I'd just like to say that this is one of the best mods I have ever played. Krenzo and the rest of the Empires developers are some of the best in the business, pulling off things some said impossible.
This mod is one of the most indepth games I've ever played, has some of the coolest features I've ever seen, and one of the greatest communities to boot. Download 2.0 when it comes out.
Fantastic video, this mod looks so bloody fun, can't wait.
This mod looks ******* awesome.
Keep up the good work.
