Hi All,

is this save compatible? Currently explored six maps and lots to do, but now have monies to buy/upgrade loner exo. Don't really want to restart if this breaks my progress.

Hi All,

any idea what happened to Ghost Land mod (i think nightrider was the developer)?

Seemed to disappear from moddb.

Posted a funny picture from zaton in my blog. Pseudodog chewing on an Exo-Stalkers....gluteus maximus....and doesn't do anything. Random!

I second that! Big fan of the sepia/desolate look but a bit of green brings out the details and serves as contrast.

This mod teaches you to improvise and use your environment! My succinct summary of what I heard - jupiter plant muties vs mercs.

Explosion.....Ugggh....roar....gunfire....squelch....burer dieing....bloodsucker being a bloodsucker....roar....squelch....gunfire....stalker....gunfire....exposion....take out controller that wonders onto the top floor. Then silence.

Bogus. Still the run-up is worth it. This is the game series that i have consistently replayed and never get tired off. All we need is Clear Sky to get that TLC. Currently Ghostrider is working wonders with Ghostland. In some ways Clear Sky is my favourite.

Have to agree with you. With AN4.0 applied the zone looks stunning under the right weather conditions. I've got a whole library of these images that are desktop worthy. My current desktop is a picture from Autumn Aurora which is similarly stunning.

I should have recorded it. Just the sounds of battle, after the free for all begins in the admin building, makes for lol moments. I still have the save before entering the plant so I may try it.

I was surprised at how well the mercs did. Black is extremely tanky so I guesstimate that he was the last one standing. They did most of the job for me and I actually left the plant before nightfall.

That zaton section is great for sniping mercs and bandits. The bridge makes for a good nest and is highly defensible.

Right. I'm on my second play through and playing recon for the first time. Tough going especially at the beginning with the under powered load out. I have to relate 2 things:

1 - Chimeras - I witnessed two glorious events in Zaton.

a - Chimeras spawn to the left of the merc base in 2.2 (as you face it). 3 of them spawned when I went farming, but they were roaming in that wooded section minding their own business. A cunning plan then formed in my mind...what if **** them off and get them to chase me into the merc base? Well let's just say the bandits (full spawn of 11) got chewed to bits whilst I sat back from a distance observing with my binoculars. Swept up the last wounded chimera and looted unimpeded.
b - 6 chimeras spawned near the sawmill and proceeded to wipe out everything in that part of the map. I was in the village on top of the hill perched on the top of the structure with the sloping roof observing with my trusty binoculars. They then made a beeline for me when I took potshots at them. Luckily a stalker and duty squad happened to be passing through and served as cannon fodder for the chimeras. Chimeras went down with 7 of the 8 NPCs claimed by the zone. I stayed on the roof.

2 - Jupiter plant - I decided to deploy this new tactic which I've dubbed "stoke the hornets nest".

a - Take out zombies that spawn initially.
b - Mine the hell out of the corner and corridor near the admin building.
c - Stoke the hornets nest - Bulldog the hell out of the section where all the muties spawn. 3 pseudogiants and a controller decide they don't like me.
d - Run into the administrative building and quickly pick up the documents.
e - Blacks squad spawns.
f - A complete cluster f**k ensues. I almost feel sorry for the mercs.
g - I chill on the top floor and basically listen to what is happening because there's no way i'm going down there.
h - Mercs on the top floor descend to help their buddies (aka suicide). I mine both ends of the corridor. Wait a little longer. Take out the muties that decide to venture upstairs.
f - Descend to to the lower flowers and realise that it was the right choice to be a coward and stay upstairs. Pseudogiant, controller, burer, snork, zombie and bloodsucker bodies everywhere including the mercs.
i - Sweep up the remaining muties...a controller, zombies and poltergeist.
J - Didn't save once which is a minor miracle given my last play through with sniper.

High risk, high reward and totally out your control!

After all these years playing this series and there are still surprises.

My hats of to the the Misery team and all modders. You are gods amongst men!

lol I thought I had it bad. I'm running AN4.0 and with the grass set to high it majorly obscures the section leading to the front loaders and containers. No way to get clear line of sight to snipe whatever is waiting in that section.....shooting gallery.....for controllers. Hell this is why I love Stalker!

Jupiter is one tough nut to crack but I finally did it. Chimeras, controllers, zombies, pseudodogs....I won't say the numbers but be warned go armed to the teeth! I swear it's harder than I remember it in 2.1. Also heed the advice from Jasper in earlier posts regarding switch distance, zombies and saving. It will save you a lot of time!

ok cool. Lots of zombies in that section. Still confused by this though. So if i save after taking out the ones in the immediate vicinity of the merc fight (with a very low switch distance), will this clear the issue? Thanks for the help by the way. Enjoying it enormously and hope not to get stuck in this section. Got through 2.1 without any hitches.

I've been testing the various work arounds. Lowering switch distance doesn't appear to work either. The only save that works is prior to grabbing the documents that spawns blacks merc squad. Below is part of the error since the whole log is huge:

0023:0DE70AC0 xrGame.dll, CxIOFile::Scanf()

[error][ 87] : The parameter is incorrect.

uggghh....those Chimeras are stupidly tanky. Must have unloaded 40-50 buckshot rounds and they were still coming. A controller then turns up.

I'm using the hard saves as recommended. Just tried a save after collecting documents and still get the issue. Will try reducing the switch distance

Jupiter appears to be bugged in some way. I complete the collect documents mission, deal with the mercs and then attempt the plant itself. There are 2 very tanky chimeras there and if you get killed and try to load the previous save the game crashes. I've tried multiple saves prior to chimeras and it always crashes on loading. It seems that the only way through is killing the chimeras..... proving difficult even with the bulldog....that's Misery for you!

Hi CrommCruac, i'm getting a kaspersky AV warning when trying to run AN4.04 for misery 2.2. It flags up the installer when i run it.

I'm assuming this is a false positive. Can you advice please?

Tell a lie.

I bought a basic helmet with the last of the money I'd managed to piece together....after I bought a can of tomatoes.

3 guesses on the circumstances that lead me up here.

I literally had starting equipment as a sniper, 1 can of tomatoes and misc equipment that I had managed to scrounge together.

You can turn a bad situation into a good one if you improvise!

PS: Playing Master difficulty, which in hindsight wasn't the wisest choice with this mod ><.

The screen shots look great.

Downloaded and tried to load some of the dds files into gimp, but they won't open. I have the plug-in and all other texture files open ok. Anybody else had issues?

Hey, just re-installed SS and wanted to see which mod you guys think is the best for the campaign. I've been playing total annihilation for DC and was hoping to find something along similar lines that covers all campaign races i.e. higher pop caps, new units and squad/vehicle upgrades (within reason).

My research so far indicates that mods are for multiplayer. I'm also running Steam version. Right i'm of for a run to prepare myself for a major session conquering the enemies of whoever i'm fighting.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for adding message in this mods comments. Mod looks cool but i take it is for multiplayer only?

I like the video in the main menu! I have a very similar main menu mod in my personal mod combo for SHOC, that i downloaded from the amk forum. It has the intro to SHOC instead though. Very cool!
