I have been playing 'Mayhem Mansion v0.7 (LATEST)' but when I get to the point to find the Alpha, Beta and Omega items I can pick up Beta and Omega and they appear in my inventory BUT When I pick up Alpha it disappears and is NOT added to my inventory SO I can't open the portal. I'm stuck.

Any idea why this would happen?

You create a shortcut from your zdoom.exe file (preferably on the dektop) then right-click the shortcut and choose 'Properties'. Then in the 'Target' field where it shows your 'zdoom.exe' right after that add ' -file MayhemM_EE_v0.7.pk3'. Of course you have to have put the 'MayhemM_EE_v0.7.pk3' into your zdoom directory.

So my zdoom is on my E: drive so the 'Target' field looks like:

E:\zdoom\zdoom.exe -file MayhemM_EE_v0.7.pk3

Now when you click the shortcut it should launch the game (you may have to choose a valid doom.wad or doom2.wad from a window that may open).

I installed the mod fine and it shows up in my list in steam, but when I try to run it, it flashes the HL2 splash screen then disappears. I never get to to the menu screen or actual game. What's wrong? :-/

OK, I figured it out.. I looked in the "Pirates!.wad" and saw that the FIRST map for the WAD is "Map41" (all the way through to Map59, which is the last map).. sooooo I needed to warp to that map to start at the beginning of the Pirate mod.

So for myself and my brother I created these two shortcuts, I run as HOST and then he connects as CLIENT:

Host:
E:\Gzdoom\gzdoom.exe -host 2 -file Pirates!.wad -warp 41

Client:
E:\Gzdoom\gzdoom.exe -join 192.168.0.100 -file Pirates!.wad

Hope this helps anyone else who wasn't sure ;-)

Hmm ok I got this multiplayer pgm to work but it only allows me to play the OLD doom2 maps NOT the Pirate ones. Can anyone clarify HOW I can play Pirate Doom cooperatively on a LAN? It says it has Coop implemented BUT I see NO way to play MultiPlayer from the game menu? =O

I'm wondering about near the end when someone comes on the radio other than the contact... who is that supposed to be? What was he saying, all I caught was him needing help. I couldn't understand anything else he was saying har!

Oh and IMO the ending should have been more succinct other than having us wander around a closed compartment wondering whether that was actually the end.

Turns out I wasn't running a steam ID that had episode 2 installed with it. I logged over to another id that does and worked fine. I also had to force it to use directx 9 for the game to work properly.. for some reason it defaulted to 7 <shrug>. SO I had to add '-dxlevel 9' to the launch options in steam FYI in case anyone else has these problems ;-)

Found the problem. For some reason the default video was set to Directx 7 instead of 9 and there was no way to change it in the video options. SOOO I forced it to 9 by adding "-dxlevel 9" to the launch options for the addon in steam. Them it changed it in the video options as well and saved it. Probably the reason I was crashing so much .. I'll see heading back to the mod :-D

Well this kinda sucks, I was enjoying the mod (even though I randomly crash a lot and have to restart the game <sigh>), BUT now I'm stuck because when I go underwater I can't see anything. If I'm above water the view is clear but as soon as I submerge it's too murky to make anything out. I played with the video settings but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions? I'm stuck at the canal where you go down the chute, once I'm in it I can't see where to go >.<

I couldn't get the game to load after the initial cut-over scene. I get the loading message but then after a bit it just crashes with a "hl2.exe has stopped working" error. Tried fullscreen or windowed but crashes for both :-/

Yeah I'm getting a similar problem as another person:

Seems I've played the mod before and it played fine but now I can get into the game and play it, but get giant text blocks saying "Error" all over the place.

My issue is with my mouselook. I use the mouse to look around and tried lowering the sensitivity to lowest (1), but it still seems to whip around too fast. Checking/unchecking the 'mouse filter' checkbox to smooth mouse movement doesn't seem to make a difference. Odd since the mouse is fine in other mods.

Love the feel of the mod though. Reminds me of more creepy mystery type games ;-)

I enjoyed the first mod just found two things annoying. Too many locked doors ;-p

Other thing was the flashlight didn't last long. This is of course part of half life 2's defaults. I got around that by setting the following command variable in the game:

sv_infinite_aux_power "1"

That way the flashlight stayed on, didn't lose power. I was hoping to find a way to just make the flashlight stay on longer but couldn't find a command for that.

I also hoped there would be a walkthrough or hints. Some mods have them others don't. Helps if you get stuck.

Also looking forward to EP.2!
